And the man who travelled to another city to shoot a popular talent contestant winner/runner up.

Not sure whether the US are bothering about trying to reduce the number of incidents, as it seems daily now.

I could make the same arguments regarding guns, mental health etc as well as the way the media frames gun rampages based on skin colour over there (lone wolf v terrorist) as have been covered on here pretty much every time something like this happens, but it would just be rehashing the same old ground.

Thought we were passed this; unfortunately it does happen.

Doesn't stop the fact there's 300+ gun related incidents every day, countless deaths, murders, accidental shootings and eveything else happening which goes unseen, unspoken about.

We want to bring up gun violence, terrorism and how messed up the world is only when something happens on a bigger more severe covered scale always. Doesn't stop the fact that this stuff happens almost every day and has been for a very long time.

Sad.

Anyone else getting fed up with this world? What it has become? This, terrorist attacks, troubles at the Euros to name but a few.

Think 1914/ 18 and 1939/45 was a bit worse mate...it is the human condition ,it has always been this way, its just that we now have  24/ 7 media, we know the instant it happens...  live with it or get a ticket to the moon........

Sounding like it may be religiously motivated.

Christ, latest report say 50 dead. Jesus wept.

50 dead?!  That is mental. But is anyone in this thread even remotely surprised it happened in America? Nope.

IF you look at this site, you'll see just how common mass shootings are in the USA. Think i'll have to take a bullet proof vest when I visit there in the summer lol

Americas right to bear arms is totally ridiculous only the police and military should have guns unfortunately the horror of this will not stop the continuity of mass shootings

The worse thing is the NRA would rather increase the number of guns potentially putting firearms into the hands of potentially nervous people in every area of society from school teachers to cinema ushers. How many of the fatalities have been road rage related? If there are no witnesses it would be hard to tell who 'drew' first. How will children be affected if a teacher shoots dead a visitor they think a threat.

It my have gone too far for a complete ban but surely nobody can object to restricting availability to weapons like assault rifles and heavy artillery? You cannot spray fire with an hand gun.

50 ****ing people. So sad.

The shooter was a US citizen of Afghan descent, but dont think it had anything to do with ISIS. Just pure hatred. There are some absolute ***** on this planet.

ISIS now claiming responsibility

I hope most join me and will stand for a society where anyone and everyone is free to pursue the lifestyle they choose, our freedom depends on it.

Negative on both counts. We should all be armed, have open carry and accept the responsibility that brings.

The world is going to Hell in a hand cart I'm afraid.

50 people dead this time. The worst mass shooting in US history.

Could play right into Donald's hands this. I think many people have simply had enough.

People are almost becoming blasé about terrorist attacks now. The attitude seems to be 'not again'!, rather than being genuinely horrified. When this is true we are in a dangerous place.

That is assuming they were all gay. There may have been people there who liked the company of gays.

Still not right. I  just cannot understand why someone can think they have the right to impose theiew values on others.

Why cant people live and let live? Why so much hate?

You support the public being able to carry firearms?

Police cannot protect you. Nor the Army.

If it is bad now think how bad it will be if everyone carried a side-arm. There would be daily gunfights The police would not be able to keep up with the paperwork.
