I've got this weird vision of tonight's match seeing a re-enactment of a scene from over 100 years ago when Leicester City played their first ever FA Cup tie (post-Fosse).

It was January 1920 and our opponents were Newport County - the first time we'd played them. After a 0-0 draw in Wales, thousands of Newport fans came for the replay and filled the streets of Leicester with black and amber.

We won 2-0, and after the match the players of both sides went to the Palace Theatre in Belgrave Gate to see 'Sons Of The Sea', a play which included this magnificent song:

Who needs the Poznan? Imagine the scene - players of Leicester and Newport losing their inhibitions and joining in the fun.

And the melody and movements are just made for a football stadium. Perfect for those moments when the jobsworths are insisting you sit down.

The song has actually been adopted by Aussie Rules team the Western Bulldogs.

Here's the original lyrics:

Sons of the sea

Bobbing up and down like this

Sailing the ocean

Bobbing up and down like this

They may build their ships my son

Bobbing up and down like this

But they can't beat the boys of the bulldog breed

Bobbing up and down like this

All you need to do is change 'bulldog breed' to 'Filbert Street' and you've got an anthem.

In response to Forest’s “forest are magic on & off the pitch” chant,

“Forest get battered on & off the pitch”

Modern poetry.

At least go with ‘Forest are tragic’

How many people have posted this now and not one has suggested any way it gets looped round to the start again.

It'll never be sung.

I agree, great song though...how about

"Then I saw wout faes, now I'm a believer!
Not a trace.......of doubt in my mind
I'm in love......wow, wow wow Wout!
I'm a believer, I couldn't leave Wout if I tried"(repeat)

The way you run
The fans love when you're playing
Every inch of your hair is amazing
You head the ball
The tackles never ending
Now, you got it, you're wow, wow, wow, Wout!
You got it, you're wow, wow, wow, Wout! lol

First of all genius.. however if fans struggle with the Maddison chant which has 2 lines then this has no hope :D

I’ve never responded to any of these chant suggestions before, but, because I’m an old git who regrets not being born in those halcyon days of camaraderie, I really liked this. I think it would be great fun. Although I might suggest that a couple of other lyric changes might make it more relevant.

To the tune of im a believer

I thought we were going to Division 2 (then Div 3, oi)

Seemed the more we played, the less we got.

Wes-ley wasnt trying (ba ba-da ba-da)

Johnny was in pain (ba ba-da ba-da)

Will we need a great escape agaaain?

Then i saw Wout Faes

Now im a believer

Not a trace

Of doubt in my mind

Staying up (ooooo)

Im a believer

Wout wouldnt leave us (youri might)

Then i saw Wout Faes....

Maddison at the darts again today.

We have to get that chant for him fully off the ground now the PL is back.

It’s a belter, completely unique, and a perfect fit for the player! Plus he desperately needs a good chant.

James Maddison wooah

James Maddison wooah

He loves it at the darts

And also the dark arts

Love it! Works so well with Kristianson... and with 2 adjacent groups or even as a general song.

TOGETHER
We will start anew

TOGETHER
We will work and strive

TOGETHER
We will fly so high

TOGETHER
This is what we'll do

Chorus x2

LES-STER!

We will start anew

LES-STER!
We will work and strive

LES-STER!
We will fly so high

LES-STER!
Where the skies are blue
