DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 20 December 2016 Share Posted 20 December 2016 I really don't know anything about him, but he seems to have plenty of grit, so could be an asset.

RoyFox Posted 20 December 2016 Share Posted 20 December 2016 Know nothing about this guy, I'd presume he's technically very able, but that's stereotyping Italian defenders Right onto the Football Replays, may as well watch Sassuolo vs Genk again! RoyFox Posted 20 December 2016 Share Posted 20 December 2016 From what I've seen so far, he's a bit flat footed and can lose his man when players come off his shoulder...remind you of anyone? Not sure about this, will watch more, doesn't help that his CB partner is woeful positionally. On the ball he's pretty good. I'd prefer Keane or a mobile athlete who can play well on the ground (Bailly type, yep and that will cost a fortune)
StriderHiryu Posted 20 December 2016 Share Posted 20 December 2016 From the clips he looks like he would fit in well here. Composure on the ball, excellent long passing and Italian defenders are usually pretty good at actual defending, especially in the classic Leicester city shirt-grabbing way ;). Probably a dream for Claudio! Of course the Premier League is totally different from Serie A so it's hard to tell if he would fit right in, if at all. Still we desperately need a centre back and an Italian national defender at age 28 on paper sounds good. His back story is also very Leicester City esque - you can't help but admire someone who has gone through that to make it. You can forget about getting Keane in, Burnley won't sell to a relegation rival and he will go to one of the top 6 clubs for £30m plus in the summer due to being English. Have a look at his 'bad bits' eg goals conceded, paints a different picture, was concerned how quickly speedy attackers could drift off him and find room. But it's so hard to judge defenders when their CB partner isn't the best. Going forwards he's good, going backwards worries me in terms of his mobility. PL attackers come at you more aggressively due the nature of our tempo compared to Serie A.
StriderHiryu Posted 21 December 2016 Share Posted 21 December 2016 ^ Fair points. Impossible really to judge until he plays in our league (if ever)! Actually there is a history of expensive defenders coming to the PL and doing badly. Mangala and Gabriel are pretty bad if you ask me, so it really is hard to say someone will definitely fit into our league. Thinking back Huth really was an amazing signing. Proven Premier League class that was available because he was coming back from an injury. Don't suppose there's anyone like that around!? Would Chelsea let Zouma go? Midfield it's a lot easier to judge a player from screen, there's so much off the ball a defender gets involved in that we can miss, unless we're there live. Also when a team's struggling, it's tricky to assess a defender eg Mustafi was made to look average at times, when Gary Neville was in charge. The Chelsea fans I know say that Zouma is still highly regarded by the club, not sure they'd let him go (he was out for a long time from a cruciate injury). Loan would be perfect, slightly envy Bournemouth having Ake, he's been impressive and the kind of player we need.
Dan LCFC Posted 21 December 2016 Share Posted 21 December 2016 Defenders are nearly impossible to judge by videos. Looks quite good on the ball although you do worry he may have the odd howler playing like that.
