That’s how you won the Cold War genius. Reagan made it clear that sanctions would be lifted in Geneva if Gorbachev underwent his perestroika and glasnost reforms. It’s worrying I know how to be a economic liberal better than you do.

Reagan and Thatcher won the cold war by not appeasing the Soviet Union. They stepped up the arms race so that Russia couldn't afford to keep up.

Attempted murder. Teresa May hasn't attempted to murder anyone. Lets have some perspective here.

Rushing in claiming you know exactly who committed the crime without any public evidence, potentially provoking a violent reaction from one of the worlds strongest military powers and you call for perspective! LMAO. Perspective is exactly what May is not demonstrating and exactly what Corbyn is.

May is absolutely terrifying in this situation. I can’t stop thinking about when she went to Grenfell and hid behind an armed security unit, or the brexit “negotiations” in which she has had the piss taken out of her again and again by the EU. She makes utterly terrible decisions under pressure. This one could be the worst of them all.

Sorry, attempted murder

I mean do you not think the huge reaction from our ruling govt. could be due to their current very weak state?

They are pathetic atm, looking foolish and inept in Brexit... isnt it a convenient way for May to demonstrate a bit of strength by making a big show of denouncing Russia?

Because they are being ridiculously rash as far as i can see, its probably just to make themselves look better

Is that whataboutery?

What Russia has done is inexcusable and called for a response, or are you suggesting we should have ignored it. Corbyn has done what the hard left always do is blame us and make excuses for our enemies.

More deflection?

I'll ask you again, who else had a motive and could lay their hands on nerve agent? Why would anyone use nerve agent if they didn't want us to know it was them?

No. Its not whataboutery in the slightest

Its not excusing what Russia has done. If they have done it.

Its saying that our govts knee jerk reaction might be politically motivated

Russia may or may not have done anything

May's Russia response deadline bollocks seems like a rubbish supply teacher trying to show authority

How am I supposed to know the answer to that? You’re asking me to solve an international attempted murder mystery which most likely has all sorts of different players. I’m not in the CIA or MI6, I don’t know, and neither do you.

hahaha you’ve literally made that up

Study a bit of history, the Left hated Reagan, called him a war monger. Mrs Thatcher allowed American Cruise Missiles to be based on Greenham Common which lead to years long protests from the left. The Americans armed the Afghans against the Soviets. Add to that socialism destroying the economies in the East and it's plain why the USSR collapsed.

I'm not going to ask for proof, just give me some possible scenarios where it could be someone other than Russia?

Just read back some of the stuff you've written. You're making excuses for Corbyn because he's quite rightly being criticised.

If this act is by the Russians it is very sloppy by their standards, they are normally quite ruthless and do exactly what they do without the collateral damage associated to this vicious crime. Some things don't seem to add up and before finding someone guilty you normally have to have a trial

The nerve agent could be available on some black market and been bought by someone from literally any country in the world or someone within Russia not being directed by the government.

Wasn’t the British judicial system one of the things you voted brexit to protect? What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

And we helped train them, hindsight is such a wonderful gift and maybe we would have been better off letting Russia look after the elected government they tried to support

So Russia is guilty selling nerve agent on the black market?

As for the innocent until proven guilty, are you going to russia to arrest Putin so he can stand trial?

Being rash! Russia has just used nerve agent on our soil and we are expelling some diplomats in retaliation and this is rash!  We let ourselves down with the handling of the Litvinenko case and so I am content that we are taking a proportionate response this time.

The agent used was produced in Russia during the 80s/90s and has a very specific signature. If they cannot explain how it went missing from their stocks then this and the huge volume of circumstantial evidence at this time means we cannot let this go unanswered.

You keep talking about russia like it’s an individual person. Not everything that happens in a country is directed by the government.

I’m done with this for the night. I feel like I’m losing brain cells. TTYL ;)

I dont really know what you mean. Do you not think you're being a bit gung ho, or following the govts gung ho line on this?

As far as i'm aware, Corbyn has just said to be careful, follow international processes, and check that we know what has happened before we act.

Btw, he also said he doesnt have access to evidence

Is that not sensible?

The violent reaction to it seems to show to me that its more important for some people to act tough than it is to act with intelligence

If it turns out Russia are guilty, Corbym hasnt said anything wrong, hasnt supported them. Honestly dont see why people are so pissed off with him

If May does something it’s perfect. If Corbyn does something it’s terrible. I think those are the rules. Good luck getting any sense out of people committed to playing such ridiculous games.

Gung ho? We're expelling diplomants? Last week May was being criticised , people saying she won't do anything.

If they're guilty, then fine. I dont know what the appropriate response should be anyway. Dont know if what we're doing is bad or good, even if Russia are guilty

I just dont understand how people in positions of responsibility can just rile the nation up to serious conflict without full disclosure of information....

Oh wait. We do it all the time. Hence Corbyns words of warning

Btw, i'm not really bothered about what Corbyn said. Its of little importance atm
