When Scotland drew 0-0 with Uruguay in the 1986 World cup finals, I was watching with a Scottish mate and his fifty something father. His father was a minister, who, in the 10 years I'd known him, had always been a softly spoken, polite man who always seemed to be working on the next Sundays sermon every time you visited.

When Steve Nichol missed pretty much an open goal, he jumped up from his seat and screamed at the TV 'Nichol, you ****ing gink' at the top of his voice.My surprise at his loud swearing was only overtaken by his use of the word gink. I didn't know it was actually a word at the time and I had never heard anyone use it before and I've never heard anyone use it since. 

Bit of an aside but it still amuses me to this day.
