Man City make £50million offer for Riyad Mahrez?

Recommended Posts

We should see if there's any interest from Real/Barca. If Coutinho is 145M, then surely Mahrez is a bargain for 90M. Additionally he's not cap-tied in the champions league, so that has to be worth something. We just need another interested party to drive up Man City's price.

Nah, 65 Million pound Including a player, the player makes up part of the fee. As I read it anyway.

If it's 65 Million and a player then we are probably going to take it.

That's what I think too. I apparently misread and stand corrected.

Isn’t ANYONE completely fooked off with Riyad Mahrez? He has made it perfectly clear that he wants out of our club as fast as his legs can carry him and now, If reports are true, he’s gone AWOL AGAIN!

Brillant player though he is, he has made it clear he wants to go at the earliest opportunity.

The club is bigger than any one player.

I don't think the fact Roberts is out until March is an issue.

If Riyad leaves we will be signing someone in his place on top of any swap deal.

Also Roberts would be an excellent addition, he's from the very successful Fulham academy and we've been linked with him pretty much every season for the last 4 years.

I doubt there is time to do any international deal

You slated my preferred player.

Do you really want to keep a player who yet again has put a great big v’s up to the club?

What are we achieving by keeping him against his will?

It’s not a case of keeping Mahrez. The timing of the transfer is absurd and gives us no time to get an adequate replacement in.

If we have any ambition to grow as a club, it’s time to stop being submissive to the Top 6. Southampton did that and didn’t replace their players, now they fight relegation. It’s beyond the player - it’s more than that.

This transfer should be done on our terms. Not offered some player. If Man City’s kids were so good, why hasn’t Pep trusted them with covering Sane’s injury? Or why sign the centre back recently? They’d have to adapt to a different style than they currently play. We’d waste six months when we have Diabaté doing the same thing.

Come on, clearly any younger player would be bought into our club as a prospect City are willing to part with as they don't think they are quite good enough to play at the very very top level but could well be a very good Premier League player. Obviously they are not going to be able to cover a German International against the best teams in Europe at a young age.

We aren't going to immediately  "replace" Mahrez whenever he leaves, I know I've often said he is no Sanchez or no Coutinho but he is a developed experienced  top class player and they only way we get one of them is if we buy young and/or hungry and work on their game like we have done with him, Vardy, Drinkwater etc.

You lost me a bit there. Are you implying Puel's judgement ain't exaclty good?

Oops a bit of misplaced irony- quite the contrary - I'm totally secure in CP's judgement and picking the players who will suit his style ( and spotting a clunker and rejecting them)
