Coming back to god's country this week and you can bloody bet I'll be sampling our fine city's four pubs with aplomb

See you down O'Neill's lad

Going hiking in the surrounding countrysides around Loughborough tomorrow.    Do anyone have good pub recommendations?

The wheatsheaf Woodhouse usually have Vixen on which is fantastic.

A once very good brewery who now resort to gimmicks.  Can't remember the last time I bothered with anything of theirs.  Which is a shame as I'm sure amongst the nonsense like this they still produce some excellent beer.

Yes I'm a miserable old git.

Spending the day making 300 pints for a festival.

1 session ale, 1 Gamma Ray style and one that has echoes of Proper Job

Long old day, but fun with the help of some Vocation, home brew, Punk, nasty Mango concoction and actual Proper Job.

I hope you're adhering to strict hygiene procedures!

Save us a drop of the Gamma Ray style :D

Haha - it’s a bit of a rustic outdoor brew…but, yes, all strict food safety procedures have been followed!

Although I did drink a mouse brew earlier today. It was made using the grain that had been mousified in the garage.

No chewy bits, surprisingly

Watched us in the Salmon then did the Tree, Globe, Firebug (weirdly) then back in the Salmon before a stroll back to Birstall. Half the gaffs were closed or closed early.

Simply hate to say it but the pub scene in the city is crap.

Globe closing at 9.30 on a feckin Bank Holiday Sunday. The Tree closing at 11!

Couldn't believe it was completely shut when we walked back past it about 10 man. Assume you were in there with Tom etc, when we left it was busy enough! Even the Salmon (went back in for a quick one before buggering off) did last orders at no discernable time other than whenever the staff fancied it, just a bit shit all round.

The Ostrich

Class boozer. Especially on a sunny day. Great pub culture in Bristol I always think.

I’m off to Birmingham tomorrow and that means I get to go to The Wellington and The Colmore and I for one, am excited.

A pint of blue fox in Wygston’s House. Nice, but not as good as black fox. Not found it on anywhere in the city since the Ale Wagon in February/March.

Used to be on in the Parcel Yard, but would have no idea if it is anymore as they've never been open when I've fancied a pre-train home pint in recent times...

Cheers, might be passing later so will have a look if so. But like you say it’s opening times are so erratic, it’s a shame that Steamin Billy won’t have anywhere in the city soon!
