The problem we had after winning the league is that we thought we found a magic formula when in fact we we're freakishly lucky.

Instead of buying proven talent we thought we could carry on buying relative unknowns and that cost us big time.

Musa and Slimani were proven talent, top scorers at clubs consistently in the CL.

The way I see it, every purchase is a gamble. You can buy a player for 15m, gambling on whether they turn out to be a Mendy or a Ndidi. It isn't the individual 'lost bets' that matter particularly. You can be unlucky with a certain player (not adapting, recurrent injuries, being shit etc), doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't worth the gamble at the time. What matters is whether you win more than you lose overall. Whether the bunch of players you end up with are worth more than the total you paid. And we've done okay at that - the gambles that turned out well (Ndidi, Maguire) have gained more than enough value to cover for the cost of the failed gambles.

Let be honest, I'm remember the days when no one was interested in buying our players and if they were it was a Sheffield United or some of that level, that when you need to be worried.

The fact that Champions League clubs are interested or have been interested in Maguire, Vardy, Mahrez, Drinkwater and Kante, show how far we have come. Its life, there is really only one club in the world that doesn't have to worry about another club chasing their best players in their prime and that Real Madrid.

I trust the owners, to do the business when it come to getting the best deal for the club, look at Mahrez, he's wanted out for 2 years, went on strike, but the they didn't make it easy for him to leave and in the end got a decent price.

Oh for a sheffield utd now to come take Slim Musa Mendy and one or two more.

Will have to be closer to £100k IMO

Make it £120k and offer him all the things. Private jet, captaincy, free tattoos at Wes's parlour, Riyad's ladder up to the roof of the shed for his mardies, a year's supply of inflatable unicorns. Everything.

I suppose it was inevitable Man utd would come a knocking, they haven't got a player like Harry who can play out from the back. I have no doubt our fantastic owners have aspirations to be a top 6 club, it will be extremely difficult to achieve that if we keep having to sell our most talented players to 'Bigger Clubs' . I really hope we play hardball and the players really buy into our owners project , but things need to happen fairly quickly. Of course some players will always be attracted to the 'Big Money' big clubs pay and I wouldnt want us to go down that route. Spurs have a very good wage structure , not incredibly high wages but they have a bonus scheme related to performance which enhances their wages ,we should be going down that route imo.

Percy and Whitwell confirming Man U interest and our increased contract offer to 75-80k/week. Both optimistic he'll stay.

There was a bid before the World Cup even began. City sat on the offer but fully expect it's been dismissed now.

Have you heard anything about any outgoings?

A distinct lack of rumours about getting rid of some deadwood with three weeks and six days left of the English transfer window.

We could literally field three teams of senior player without dipping into the U23s.

Our squad is bloated and it will do nothing for squad harmony to have so many players kicking their heels.  Not to mention the wage bill, FFP and incoming fees that we could do with.

We really do need to sell some of the rubbish at the club. We’re bloated with bloody mediocrity. James, King, Amartey, Mendy, Musa, Slim...none of them Prem quality really.

And there lies the problem, who will pay them what we are paying them?

We will need to lose some serious money to offload them.

The best we can do is send them out on loan again and have the loan club cover their wages. I cant imagine the stupid money Musa and Slim are on. On top of that Benalouane has sat in our stands collecting his wages for 3 bloody years.

Hopefully we'll send the dead wood out on loan or in the case of Musa and Mendy we can find a buyer fingers crossed.

This is a problem for a lot of PL clubs nowadays. We spend too much on transfers and wages and if a player doesn't perform to expectations you're pretty much stuck with them. I'm half expecting that we can't shift Slimani, Musa, Mendy, etc come the English transfer deadline day and the only option we have to get rid of them is sending them on loan to somewhere like a Turkish club who refuse to purchase them.

Hopefully we've learned our lesson and we only ever buy nowadays when we're as sure as we can be that we've signed a player who will improve us. There should be no expense spared on scouting and due diligence to get the right players in rather than what appears lazy buys on players who we can't even move on for a loss. Our business so far is excellent on the face of it buying an established PL player for buttons, the best young player in the Championship and a youngish Portuguese international rated the 10th best right back in the world by 442 magazine.

Compare that to Slimani for £30m as a 28 year old who it soon became clear he couldn't play alongside Vardy or Iborra for £12m who came here to be a squad player at 29. Mendy also lookled a poor buy just looking at his stats. It all seemed more money than sense and it's a double whammy as we pay their wages and can't get a buyer for them.

Could work.

Didn't we build a flannels in the city so N'Didi's Gucci demands would be met!

Due to all the TV money, buying players from competitors is going to be crazy over priced, simply because clubs don’t need the money any more.

Because of this clubs are having to look overseas to find a bargain, doesn’t matter who the player is, when they haven’t played in the league before, they are a gamble. If you look at the big clubs in the league their recruitment is probably pretty similar in terms of success rate.

If if you take last year as an example, everyone was saying how great West Broms transfers were (because they were household names). And people said Swansea made the move of the window on deadline day. How did that work out?

Im refusing to judge our window until they play their first few games as none of us know how these guys will get on.

Hes under contract and hopefully will sign a new contract when he returns. I really cant see the owners allowing more than 1 key player to leave in the same window. Plus Harry seems down to earth and has only been here for 1 season and is still pretty young so i cant see him throwing a Mahrez tantrum anytime soon

Man Utd selling Daley Blind

Ajax put its general manager and former Manchester top goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to push the price, but United nevertheless maintained a hefty remuneration for the international that was still wanted at many a club in Europe. Manchester United wanted a high amount, because the replacement of Blind will cost a sloppy 60 million euros. The English negotiate the arrival of England defender Harry Maguire (Leicester City).

And you can get away with it.

For someone who has difficulties with taking reality so personally you probably shouldn't call out those whose views differ from yours. A lot of us put the club above any individual and are unhappy with the sulky way a highly paid individual tried to wreck a season because he couldn't break his contract.

What do you mean by this FIF?
