Has he actually stated he wants the move or is this just some sort of BS move that there trying to pull to convince viewers he’s leaving?

No, it's 100% a bullshit move.

However, he hasn't said he wants to stay for this season either.

I’ve said this three times already

The club don’t need to sell

The club have made it publicly clear they won’t sell

He hasn’t said he wants to go

Forget the media circus-it’s just there to create interest.

Why can’t you all believe this and calm down.

Sky just seem to throw so much shit at the wall hoping some of it will stick. They're often not much better than those crap no-mark click bait websites.

Jeff Stelling is alright though. And Chris Kamara.

Stelling yes. Kamara no, no, no.

Would be a big risk given his recent injury record though.

True but he's worth the risk. They're desperate bless em and really need a player with title-winning experience. He has as many as Mourinho, and is a free kick specialist

That's the most salient point for me and I totally agree.

It's a little different than the Mahrez thing, as you say. If Maguire is still here come the start of the season, I won't like him any less but I certainly won't like him any more either. That was really the point of my original reply to Wymeswold.

I would like, for once, someone like Maguire, to publicly say something like 'My transfer to Leicester has got me to where I stand at the start of this season, I've only been here for a season, I'm contracted to them and I think another season here at the least is what I expect to happen', That wouldn't rule anything out for him but it would show loyalty to us, especially so soon into his contract with us. I'm not blaming Maguire, they all do it. I suppose for me the disappointment is that, if a down to earth, northern lad like Maguire doesn't say that, no one will.

At least he didn't do a Courtois and refuse to return to the club paying his wages to try and force a transfer through.

That's just the depressing state of football in 2018.

I waffled on a bit there but I do agree with you, we should be able to tell him exactly what you said, unfortunately, players have all the power at this point in history.

I do wonder what would happen if a club did try to keep a player, pay his huge wages and make him rot in the reserves (as fans often suggest). I reckon the player would take the club to court for effectively suspending his career and probably win. Even though they were under contract. It's just too much trouble for the club to bother with so they usually just sell in the end.

I think what you make clear here is a wider subject. Loyalty doesn’t exist very often in football now, perhaps from both sides but in a far greater degree from player to club.

I’m currently reading Harry Redknapp’s autobiography. He talks about Bobby Moore after West Ham home games being down the pub with the fans an hour after the game! Also in those days pretty much all the players lived close by and after training did things together in public. Nowadays everything is under the microscope and they live in a bubble. Some players just think they are the big ‘I am’ and hang out in exclusive places, but high profile players I’m sure are sometimes just scared to do normal things, in a normal place now.

All of this means despite the platitudes of saying ‘The fans are great’ means, I think, that they have no genuine connection anymore with the the fans, the area, or any team. One club players do still happen don’t they, but rarely.

£100000 a week isn’t even enough to keep a player at a club. What a club has done for a player makes no odds either. And as you rightly say, if Maguire doesn’t have that loyalty ( we don’t truly know he doesn’t, but are both thinking that) then who will?

Anyone else think smaller clubs like ours are now exposing the lack of proper scouting that goes on at the elite clubs? It seems they're just like:

'Who's had a good season in the Premier League/Serie A/Bundesliga/La Liga/Ligue Un? Let's slap in a bid that's £10m under their valuation. We're Man Utd/Chelsea/Man City, the player will force their way out at the mere inkling that we're interested'

No lads, not anymore.

That's because the "smaller" clubs like us can now toss £100k a week contracts at them. Couple that with the fact that Leicester City players are starring for England AND you play every week without putting up with that pr!ck Mourinho..... All THEY have to offer is an extra 25k or so and getting humped in the first knock out stage of the CL.

No, it isn't. What he said was

Every player wants to play at the highest level,’  ‘I’ve just come back from playing at a World Cup, where I really enjoyed the high pressure of the games.‘It was something that I really thrived off. ‘Leicester have been unbelievable to me and I’m really happy there but I’m also an ambitious player and everyone wants to play at the top.’

Which is very different from what I posted I'd have liked him to have said. If the report above is true, it actively encouraged Man U to pursue him. If he said what I posted, they may have still pursued him but he wouldn't have been verbally endorsing it.

He's a football player. While he plays with us, I'll support him.

Ok.

You do all realise that if this thread gets to 100 pages then it means there is a real chance this will happen. I suggest the thread is locked as a precaution.

Why did we ever accept these 100 page release clauses? It still baffles me today lol

Sorry Suzie. I was on one. I just want all our players to commit to us for ever. Is that too much to ask? lol

No need to apologise to me, i did not want to get into one, especially as you was most likely correct (and i have been drinking) and ofc most importantly i love you.

Seriously though, I do get what you are saying with the whole 'Maguire should come out and say blah blah LCFC no Man Utd blah blah blah' and it would make fans alot happier to hear that. BUT we dont know if a) he isnt allowed to talk to the media about contracts b) he is happy at LCFC but would not be against a transfer or even c) he cant be arsed to answer to all the obvious tripe rumours he is probably pissing him self over.

At the end of the day, actually at the end of 18 hours we will know exactly how he feels if all the rumours are true :D

I know if you put those highlighted portions together that's what you really think lol

You're right of course, we can only guess as to what the truth of the matter is. For the record, I hope he stays, mostly for us but also as he'd improve Man U if he went and nobody in their right mind should want that.

Turn off all the phones and fax machines at the club and we are sorted. Once we've finished our own business though. I would refuse to sell simply because the big clubs need to **** off putting bids in on deadline day. If United were so desperate to get Harry why haven't they bid already. Or was Harry just a back up after all their other targets weren't available. Same as City in jan with Mahrez. Smaller teams need to stand up and show the big clubs they can't just take our players whenever they want!

Highlighted part is the bit that i totally agree with, it was the same with Mahrez, its not just finding a similar replacement (which we struggle with) but its also boosting the opposition. And before i get quoted with 'HAHAHAH Suze, we are not on the same level as Man Utd' i would counter it with... neither will we ever be if we keep selling them all our best players!
