Negatives of being a PL footballer:

- Constant 24/7 stream of verbal abuse, on the pitch and on social media.

- Intense scrutiny for any mistakes, one particularly silly mistake and it gets made into a gif/clip and shared around forever to be laughed at.

- Lack of privacy, go somewhere nice on vacation and there will be paparazzi taking pictures from the bushes to write an article in the Daily Mail about your missus' clothes and body.

- Health risks, wreck your body and get early onset arthritis and dementia, not to mention increased risk of various addictions

Positives of being a PL footballer:

- Lots of money

- A fun job (as long as you're actually starting)

The positives far outweighs the negatives for a PL footballer.

No it doesn't!

4 cons

2 pro's

4-2 to the cons.

Scientifically proven. Can't you count?

it'll be nothing like that in my opinion. Atmosphere will be far better than what West Ham's is currently purely for the fact the seats are quite close to the pitch.

There's a huge run-off from pitch to seats at the Olympic Stadium. How do you see that on the Spurs stadium??

I saw a Twitter video from spurs new ground. It's going to take until January at least before the stadium is ready. Still looks like a building site.

Allways thought it was a bit ambitous to knock down their old ground and get the new one up in just over a season.Should be made to play at Wembley(if that's possible) for the rest of the season now......at least away teams would know where their going.

Tottenham delay move to new stadium over 'safety issues'

Tottenham have delayed the opening of their new stadium because of "issues with the critical safety systems".

Spurs had been expected to play their first game at the new ground on 15 September against Liverpool but that match has now been switched to Wembley.

Tottenham's following home game against Cardiff on 6 October has also been moved to Wembley.

A venue for their Premier League game against Manchester City on 28 October is currently 'to be confirmed'.

An NFL fixture between Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders, scheduled to be hosted on 14 October, will also now take place at Wembley instead of Spurs' new 62,062-seat arena, built on the site of their old White Hart Lane ground.

Spurs had already agreed with the Premier League to play their first home game of the season, which is against Fulham on Saturday, at Wembley.

A club statement read: "Recent testing and commissioning has now shown issues with the critical safety systems.

"We are reviewing the situation and planned timetable to rectify and re-test, after which we shall be in a better position to outline a revised timetable.

"The delays created by these difficulties mean that we can no longer hold the necessary test events on 27 August and 1 September. These will need to be rescheduled to take place ahead of any first official match at the new stadium in order to achieve the safety licence."

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said: "We know this will be disappointing for all our season tickets holders, premium members and our fans worldwide.

"At the start of the project we asked for your support during what we knew would be a complex and challenging build and now we ask for your continued patience and forbearance."

The words piss up and brewery come to mind.

I don’t usually mind Wrighty but I think he’s had a mare suggesting that criticism of Raheem Sterling is done so out of racism. I really don’t see the link at all

It seemed to come out of nowhere from Wright. I've got to agree with you, I normally like his enthusiasm ,even if he can be over the top, but I don't think the criticism is motivated by race at all.

The top PL players might get a lot of Paparazzi attention but not the majority.

The average PL player doesn’t really receive much barring the odd fan getting a video on their phone and they don’t usually seem overly bothered by it, and why would they?

Look at Maguire in Ibiza post World Cup. I can recall seeing a video of him heading a ball in a nightclub and that’s about it (I’m sure some of you will post some links from the rags). He’d just shone at the World Cup and was left to have a laugh and a drink in one of the most popular tourist resorts in Europe. That’s just one example.

If they keep themselves out of controversy they keep themselves out of the headlines.

Nah I disagree, I feel like I can enjoy it. I had a long time to accept that Mahrez was leaving, he's gone to the best and we've made some decent signings with the money. I actually feel like I'm going to enjoy watching him and Walker down that side. They look lethal so far already.

I kind of want him to vindicate everything I've said about him. Don't like the way he acted here but I've talked him up to a level that I hope he can show.

Christ, not talking about Sterling again. And this point the media are talking about Sterling because they've talked about Sterling and it's regurgitating the same bullshit over and over again and the media aren't intelligent enough to realize that they're making the same redundant points over and over again. Cut the filler. Surely professional football media can find another story to write or another 5 minutes of something to fill the radio waves with.

I saw a short video with him this morning where he was talking about the 2nd half of last season at Everton, may have been from this interview. There's no doubt he knows football, he's been in it long enough as a player and manager but he came across as incredibly smug, pompous and self satisfied and I'm not entirely sure why.

I can't stand the man. There's no place for him in the game now, certainly not in the Prem.

Found this quite an interesting read, there’s more at the link about the football league

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44850888

Premier League: 10 of 20 clubs could have made profits in 2016-17 without fans at games

Half of Premier League clubs could have played in empty stadiums and still made a pre-tax profit in the first season of the current broadcast deal, BBC research has found.

In the 2016-17 campaign in which clubs benefited from a record £8.3bn in global TV revenue, matchday income contributed less than 20p in every £1 earned by 18 top-flight outfits.

The number of clubs that would have recorded pre-tax profits even if matchday income was taken away rose from two in 2015-16 to 10 in 2016-17.

Dr Rob Wilson, a sport finance specialist at Sheffield Hallam University, said the previous £3.018bn broadcast deal struck in 2012 signalled a permanent change to top-flight football as a business in England.

"That is when the focus really went toward generating TV money rather than matchday ticket receipts," he told BBC Sport.

"The revenue structures of those clubs are fairly well there to stay now.

"When you get a £120m payout from the Premier League for kicking a ball around, you can play in an empty stadium if you need to.

"From a revenue generation perspective clubs do not rely anymore on matchday ticket income."

You'd have to be incredibly naive or just a moron to not see the racist agenda against Raheem Sterling. It's absolutely vile

What actual evidence is there its motivated by race?

The press have always picked on an England player, it was Carlton Palmer when I grew up, the Neville brothers, then Beckham, Rooney and recent years Kane.

Now it's Sterling it's all of a sudden racist?

He's had a lot of negative press since he dared to leave the Media darlings of Liverpool fc.

West Hams isn't a football stadium though. The new spurs stadium has been built for football and it has been built to hold an atmosphere with maximum noise. I like it to be fair!

It looks like an NFL stadium especially with the NFL logo in the middle of the pitch.

If it didnt have the NFL stuff then it wouldn’t !

As referenced yesterday - not sure how you’re supposed to get 62000 people within spitting distance of the pitch - I think it looks a superb stadium - like the emirates does. We are blessed in this country with some superb venues and this will add another.
