His first touch is decent, his movement is decent, skill wise he's dangerous but I tell you what I fcukin love about this geezer is his team work. He's everywhere, defending and stay composed to start attacks and winning aerial balls against full backs and start attacks. As good a game as I've seen from a winger for a while. He's Puel's man and like Mendy you can see the confidence. It's great to see.

I agree with everything you said. I know there are comparisons to Mahrez, but if Ghezzal improves and maintains consistency, we'll end up with a player that is better suited to us in the long run. He may not be as quick as Riyad, but he's better at holding the ball without being muscled off of it, and he seems to be a better team player. If Puel can continue to motivate and get the best out of him, then we're laughing ourselves to the bank. Onwards and upwards!

That really was noticeable. He got back to help Ricardo several times, then he’d hold it up well waiting for support before playing in someone else. He’d also drive into the box late (maybe too late) to try and support the attack when Chilwell was on the opposite flank. Then at the end he swapped flanks and was still decent. 

 

I’d say that all of the Puel connected players are all quite decent individually but where they shine is working together as a team. We still pass the ball around a lot but unlike last year it’s a bit quicker, it’s less side to side and there is more support or 2v1 overload situations created. As many others have said we might have been weakened individually but as a team we look way more balanced. And I think Mendy and Ricardo have already shown this and hopefully Ghezzal will follow. 

 

Give this lot 6 months to a season of working out the kinks and I think we will be really good and dangerous. We’ve still yet to see some relationships develop such as Maddison / Vardy and Maddison / Gray / Ghezzal / Albrighton. There were already some good give and go’s between Mendy and Ndidi... once that sort of thing is more prevalent across the team we should be cooking with gas. 

 

We just need to be patient and not overreact when we have either a bad result or a young player has a shocker. When so many of the team are under 23, they are going to blow hot and cold and it will affect our final position. 

 

I spoke to a Liverpool fan and friend after the game and he was impressed with Leicester. He felt Liverpool didn’t get out of third gear but was surprised at the way we play given the age of our team and no Kante / Mahrez / Vardy. The way the team played was unrecognisable from the last time they played us at the KP. He said we’d probably be setup for a long time once this bunch gets more experienced.

besides, you’d be doing him a disservice if you restricted his whole efforts and performance to just one moment in the game.

I know what you mean but think with wingers you need the right combo of pace of foot and pace of thought. We’ve had players either side of the equation over the years (Schlupp vs Knocky) and hopefully this guy has the right balance.

Maybe, I just think we lack quality in those areas, Gray, Albrighton are hardly set the world on fire! We really need him to come good!

Starts for me alongside Gray, Maddison and Vardy for the near future. 

 

Tough on Albrighton who has been an absolutely outrageous free signing but he doesn’t really suit the style of football we are looking to play now. He’s a cracking option to come off the bench if we are looking to change the game but the team isn’t built for whipping balls constantly into the box anymore.

Dont remember myself calling him dog turd like you but i was hoping for a more established player that had more to offer. Credit where its due the lads done fantastic for me given i wasnt sold on the deal. I hope he continues to do well, exude confidence and become the best he can be.  Once he signed i said id back him and here i am with  some amount of tail between the legs syndrome  lol early days but keep it up the good work Rachid.

Yeah I was impressed with him today. As @Ric Flair and @StriderHiryu have already explained, he looks a team player and perfectly suited to what Puel wants.

 

I think Gray, Ghezzal and Albrighton rotating for the wing spots is excellent. I'd be tempted to tend to start Albrighton more for the bigger games where his workrate is critical.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but he seems to have really good temperament too. Doesn't look phased at all and stays calm and doesn't get over excited. 

He reminds me of a FIFA 2012 animation as he struts around with no head movement and a face that shows zero emotion and rarely changes expression. He could be a cult hero going forward.
