Agree with today, but not sure we were lucky against Wolves.  Yeah they hit the woodwork a few times but lets be fair, we deserved the win.  We controlled that game without being brilliant. Thats different to being nothing but lucky.

He's waiting for new signings to get up to scratch and playing to our strengths with what he has on the pitch.... and we're still winning! 

Performance wise, and selection wise, I don't expect to see his preferred team out there until after international break.

Though I am hoping that these wins build their confidence a bit so that they start out more aggressive. And we could have beaten Utd if we took our chances in that game.  When we play well and lose Puel gets stick.  When we play sh1t and win, Puel gets stick.  Hopefully soon we start winning AND playing well but for now I am happy with grinding out results.  X

Starting a game with real intent and confidence needs to be addressed immediately before it starts to bite us in the arse. However, you really can't complain about wins away from home. Good work lads!

Maguire was good even before the goal and Mendy is the surprise hit of the season so far. Thought Ghezzal had some nice touches and passes, want to see him start and Ricardo to play full back.

Crap game for the majority but in some ways it was a bit like last week, took us a while to get going, had to wait much longer for our first goal this week but when it came it gave us all the confidence.

Maguire, Chilwell and Mendy the stand outs today.

Gotta love a last minute smash-and-grab

I enjoy us winning but I am concerned, keep hoping we will turn the corner but yeah, concerned because shit housing wins when playing not that great eventually catches up with you.

Hopefully though, we do turn that corner, fingers crossed.

The players recongise this they just interviewed Maguire and he said the same that we need to start how we play when we go one down

I for one see today as not only three valuable points, but as a sign that we can win ugly. Good teams do that. 

Just out of interest. If we play like we did today for the next three and a bit months, but are sixth in the table at Christmas, do we think that people would still moan?

There will be many on here that will be very negative after that performance and they would have every reason to be concerned. Just like last season, for a long part of the match we were poor, couldn't string passes together and created nothing. Amartey was getting rinsed down our right hand side and their goal inevitably came from Redmond who had a great game for them.

But our goal completely changed the game and we woke up. We started passing it about and making chances, looking like we could score. Some of the interplay was very good and for me one of the most encouraging things is that in our first three games both Gray and Chilwell have been among our most consistent and better players. Once again they were very good even if they made some bad decisions at times and this is clearly going to be the true breakout season for both. It was pretty hilarious that we refused to play two up top the whole game long and still got the winner! I did feel like Puel should have made an attacking sub as soon as they went down to ten men, but fair play Maguire got him our of trouble, and he was probably man of the match as defensively he was immense. Love the man!

This time round if fans from other boards complained about us having a fortunate victory then I would very much agree but results are important and we have 6 points from 3 games which is a decent return. There are still good signs in the team especially in the second half but we do need a lot of work on the training ground still. I do want to call out Mendy and Ricardo who I think both had decent games again this week, even if not quite up to last week's standards. Kasper was once again brilliant and so dependable. Ghezzal when he came on looked quite lively I thought! Disappointments were Nacho who was largely anonymous and Amartey who though I think gets a rough deal on these boards again looked like our weak link and didn't offer much going forward either. Overall the game probably should have been a draw, but momentum is very important to give belief to a team. We were poor for long stretches but I do think there were periods in the game where we looked quite good, which is an improvement to last season, though I certainly appreciate the concern from many.

Anyway onwards and upwards!
