Liverpool (H) Match Thread

Happy apart from the lack of an actual striker. Gray isn't bad upfront but I'd rather we went with Iheanacho or Okazaki.

Dropping Pereira back and bringing in Albrighton is wise vs Liverpool. Content with Ghezzal starting and pleased with more pitch time for Ndidi and Mendy together.

He’s useless 9 games out of 10 and if anything his best position is number 10. But the fact we have sold all our strikers and ended up with Gray as our striker is ridiculous.

Oh come on now. No need for a hissy fit.

Wondered whether Iheanacho would play.

He eventually scored v. Fleetwood, but missed several chances before that and seemed shockingly low on confidence.

After missing one chance, it looked like he struggled to make himself stand up, he was beating himself up so much - then, going off at half-time, I noticed Albrighton go over pat him on the back and console him.

Have to trust the manager's judgment on his state of mind & whether it would be a good idea to play him in a big match....might have been a risk of further damaging his self-confidence.

But it does show that we're really a striker short in this squad, aren't we? Vardy and Iheanacho being unavailable leaves us experimenting. We should have another specialist striker, really.

Still, interesting match ahead - we'll have some pace and trickery, at least.....expecting a few chances, probably missed and a defeat. Anything better will be a bonus - progress of performance matters more than result today.

For all this talk of Puel being good with youngsters, all I see is a guy destroying the form and confidence of a clearly capable young centre forward that was finishing for fun and highly rated at the best club in the country.

And for what? To play a winger up front that can't hit a barn door?

He literally scored last week

Iheanacho was poor against United. Missed some real chances.  He was anonymous against Southampton. I would rather play with a false 9 rather than a striker that goes missing so often.

Stretching for the cross not long after Iborra scored? When he got up he hobbled a bit, thought then he'd over stretched and pulled something, until he came out for the second half.
