Liverpool (H) Match Thread

Ian has been looking very low on confidence and not so great for a while. Both against Soton and Fleetwood. It's not a massive surprise.

And Gray workrate  and defence will help us against a very strong Liverpool. And Ghezzal may, just may, provide missing attacking power.

Evans didn't look so good before. Soyuncu is too new. Morgan has played well in our last few games.

I suppose if it works, Puel is a genius, if it doesn't it'll be put down as Liverpool are potential league winners so *shrugs shoulders*

Yeah it’s kind of a no lose for him. Obviously he’ll get slaughtered by some but I don’t really see a lot of other options for today. I like Iheanacho but he’s hardly pulling up trees is he

Interesting line up. Think Puel realised that we will be defending for large parts of the game and wants to counter when the opportunities presents itself. It could work in our favour. The CB’s of Liverpool do not have a specific man to mark. We could potentially attack with Maddison, Gray, Albrighton, Ghezzal, Chilwell and Perreira.

His only goal in 29 games.

29.

Regardless of what you think of Gray, whether you rate him or not, he's not a finisher is he?

Gray isn’t a striker full stop. Nacho will be pissed about the fact a winger is being selected ahead of him to play up front. Maybe Puel see’s something in Gray. Mind boggling but let’s hope it works. Puel is either crazy or a genius.

Talking to a Liverpool fan yesterday, he was so relieved Vardy wasn't playing. Although their centre backs are quick and strong, Vardy has that extra yard of pace that always undoes them, he says. Gray might provide that, where Nacho doesn't really.

I reckon Gray will run them ragged first half, then Ghezzal or Albrighton will be subbed around 65 minutes for Nacho, with Gray moving to the wing and pulling players out of position.

Its easy to see lots of goals in this game with our defensive fragility and hard to see many if any goals from our offence so anything from this game has to be a positive. Just hope it doesn't turn into an embarrassment seeing we are slow out of the blocks these days and could be game over early on..

Tall order without vardy today.

Team looks unbalanced in his absence. Nachoman can't have too many complaints after the underwhelming start.

We haven't drawn against them in a while but anything other than a comfortable Liverpool win would be a surprise.

A good performance would be OK even in defeat.

Carragher obviously hasn’t seen us play for six months.

Suggesting we will be counter attacking and yielding possession.

2015 called, they wanted to talk about our tactics...

Unfortunately most of the pundits are like that. Merson  said that as well.
