Fulham 1 - 1 Leicester Post Match Thread

Recommended Posts

Tsk tsk. If it wasn't for my ingenious tactical suggestion in the match thread and a bit of Shinjitsu (which some Shinji deniers find very hard to stomach) we would lose this. We could have the early lead but look at the chances they had twice as much shots (total). We should be winning this somewhat comfortably yet I have a feeling the scoreline flattered us. Playing sole striker upfront is just not good enough against low table teams like Fulham it reeks of fear. Underwhelming.

Hes probably one our best players?

I don’t disagree….   It just appeared to me that he had a whole load of hype and although I saw flashes of talent he had been a bit in and out for a while…. He has a canny knack of coming up with important contributions, which is always welcome

Hard sometimes playing against poor teams it's easy to get dragged down to their level. A point away from home is fine at the end of the day take it and move on.

I do worry though what we would do without Vardy long term. We seen very short upfront and Nacho is certainly struggling for some reason. Strange as he looked good pre season but looks to be hiding rather than busting a gut to get involved. Maybe a confidence thing but our options are very limited.

Fulham will be kicking themselves they've not won. We were awful.

We must get some new players in in the transfer window, take out some of our regulars and we're badly exposed. So much dross in the squad.

Severely lacking in firepower, Iheanacho has had enough chances - not good enough.

Not even arsed, I’ll take a draw in London away from home on a Wednesday night. What else are we aiming for? Realistically? Let’s just accumulate as many points as we can along the way and see what happens. Good debut top flight season for Maddison already goal wise.

To think we won that second half 1-0 when all we did was drill the ball into touch or head it aimlessly into the air.

An embarrassingly bad performance but decent result.

Time for Ndidi to be dropped. Can't have a midfield fulcrum who can't pass. Because it's starting to spread to the rest of the team.

The midfield is a problem, you mark maddison out of the game and you snuff our attack.

Not Ndidi andendy offer nothing in attack and there passing range is very very limited.  Iborra just doesn't fit the bill either.

Puel.needs a busy transfer period this xmas

Dear Claude:

We cannot FUCHING play your style when we do not start players who have quality on the ball. Let's allow a O to represent a crap passer/ball handler, X a player who can pass and handle. This was our formation today:

O  O  O  X

   O  O

     X

This is pretty damn basic -- five of our back six couldn't reliably link play with their passing, so we spent the vast majority of the match unable to get the ball tyo our attacking players. Claude, you are not a stupid manager, but how the actual F do you keep making the same mistake so many times with our club?

It is pretty fuching basic -- when we start Ndidi-Mendy every game, it means we have two players who are a minimal threat to get the ball forward to our attacking players (Mendy can do it occasionally, Ndidi just about never). We are able to get away with it when players are healthy, as we have Pereira and Chilwell and sometimes Albrighton on the wings to get the ball forward, as well as Maguire when he goes marauding. But Simpson cannot pass reliably, neither can Wes or Soyuncu, so we spent the vast majority of this match unable to get the ball past midfield unless we lumped it forward and hoped a Leicester player could get on the end of it.

I just don't understand the conservative, all-defense approach in this match. We probably score 3-4 if we field a more attacking side. Instead we grind out a 1-1 draw to a VASTLY inferior team, and now we have a brutal run of matches against incredibly dangerous teams.

Claude, you have to play to win against the crap teams. You keep on playing not to lose, and it is reliably costing us points. It is your greatest failing as a manager, and it is going to get you canned if you keep it up.

Worst performance of the season. Maybe Ndidi needs to be dropped, needs to put more work in his technical side of the game. The partnership or him and Mendy is just completely transient.Every team we play cuts through them like they are not there. Nothing really positive in that game at all, apart from Maddison is a cut above the others.

Sh*** again, against a poor team. Iheanacho is useless, he can go. He's had enough chances now and all too often it is poor touch after poor touch, lack of effort & clever movement... and most importantly, no killer instinct.

Puel in campaigners will gloss over this with stats and our league position, but really... how do you gloss over another one dimensional performance? We've got a tough run coming, after a run of average/below average teams where we haven't picked up enough points.

Playing like we have been, don't see us getting a single point in the next four games.

Dont need to campaign to maintain the status quo

But i'll tell you how we gloss over it. 2 of our best players rested partly excuses how awful.we were

We were playing against a genius manager who won the league against 5000-1 odds who knows how to win as the underdog

And, Puel made the change that instantly got us back in the game and we could have won (yes, also could have lost), aaand he did it with Okazaki!

Come on man.. we were doggo and we got a point, will be 9th by the end of he day if Arsenal dont score.... its all good

Scrappy performance. I thought we were unlucky to be behind at half time and had the better of the game. We worked the ball nicely down the left side in particular. The second half was frighteningly bad, we couldn't stick 4 passes together. One flash of quality was enough to knick something though and credit to us for sticking in the game. Any points on the road are decent points.

Schmeichel's distribution tonight was awful - got boring watching the ball sail into touch. Iheanacho looks like a striker desperately short of confidence.

On paper, we have a much better squad than last season but something is missing. A player who can pick a team apart with pace and creativity and also score goals. A player like maddison but with more flair and the element of surprise about him.
