Lambert09 Posted 23 January 2020 Share Posted 23 January 2020 A confident Barnes is amazing to watch. Everytime he gets the ball you think something could happen. He tried a couple of dummies that didnt work out but were well worth trying. I think we all know he's capable of these performances, ive said for about 12 months that he just needed a goal off his backside and he'd start flying... It wasnt his backside but a lucky deflection against wigan and you can see the lift its given him.

We would be in dire trouble now if we had to put him in net for the next month. Albrighton scores less than 2 goals a season, if we're relying on him to help fire us to top 4 as part of a front 3 then yes, we would be in 'dire trouble'. Maybe Rodgers is wrong in thinking the same, but i'm rather glad he takes my stand point and never plays him. Because like me, he realizes he offers nothing. Just to point out, Perez, who's been learning a new position all season, is 3 goals away from having the same number of goals that Albrighton has had in 6 seasons for us...... Comes as no surprise to me that removing Albrighton from the side has been one of the greatest reasons we have seen us elevate from our position as mid table strugglers. JJD_LCFC Posted 24 January 2020 Share Posted 24 January 2020 Looking very good recently, he always creates so many chances with his direct running with the ball. Add an end product and he is easily capable of 10 goals and assists a season. As with most of the team below par over christmas, but has a lot of potential. Traore at Wolves was poor for a few years now one of the best wingers in the league arguably. Barnes has potential to do very well too.

Have to agree, as much as i like Albrighton and how useful he is. Its all about who can provide the assists and goals, especailly if we want to remain top4 contenders for the seasons coming, As painful as it is.. If this recent transfer rumour for this left winger actually happens, i can see them loaning out Marc next summer.. He currently stands at: 0 Goals 1 Assist.. top 4 teams cant survive with these stats mid season.. Edited 24 January 2020 by Simoken

He seems bedeviled to do the right thing and that is not helping his progression. Just like Vardy in his first season he was looking to play the right ball even though his team mates were not reading it. For Barnes a player making a run on the outside (Chilwell) does not mean who have to lay it off to him, even when clearly you have a better route to goal. He had that break away chance in the first half when he pushed the ball forward to create a foot race and you could see he never believed he would get there. He seems to be playing against himself and not trusting his instincts. Like Vardy struggled I worry if he will fall into the same trap as he needs to be himself but from his demeanour on the pitch he may not have the personality to be what he potentially could be. Good observation. I wonder though if it is because of a desire to fit in - to not be branded selfish and not be shouted at by Chilwell constantly, like the little brother under the shadow of his bigger brother. This is why he seemed to play better without Chilwell. Anyway, if he can get away from that, whatever it is that holds him back, he can get very far. cruzFOX Posted 24 January 2020 Share Posted 24 January 2020 Barnsy is definitely learning on the job and will get better and better. Some of it is down to maturity too which will affect his decision making. He has all the capability in the world it’s how he uses it. He’s surrounded by good experienced pros and a great manager. Now go bang in those goals lad!
Analysethis Posted 24 January 2020 Share Posted 24 January 2020 His confidence at times it weak and his decision making regarding when to take a player on, pass or even help Chilwell out can make you pull your hair out but we all know he has serious ability and in the last couple of games looks like he is starting to feel like he belongs. For me, we keep playing the kid as he has all the attributes to be the 10-15 goal wide man we are desperate for.
StriderHiryu Posted 24 January 2020 Share Posted 24 January 2020 We might be seeing Barnes up front tomorrow again? Perez as a striker? And Harvey as well. That was the idea of looking at that against Wigan. Ayo is comfortable when he comes inside. He can play in that position. Iheanacho in contention for FA Cup? Kels has been brilliant. He’s worked hard in training and he’s taken that into games. He’s been class.

Popular Post HankMarvin Posted 28 January 2020 Popular Post Share Posted 28 January 2020 Harvey Barnes taking his chance with both hands at Leicester City By Harry Slavin For Mailonline 10:17, 28 Jan 2020, updated 11:25, 28 Jan 2020 Why Harvey Barnes is on the path to stardom: After tough loan spells, wonder goals and a lot of hard work, this son of a York cult hero is beloved by Brendan Rodgers and ready to reach the very top with Leicester Harvey Barnes is a man in a hurry in 2020. The 22-year-old winger, who has spent the majority of his professional career to date outside the , is now thriving in the top flight with - and he is only promising to get better. Barnes has made four appearances in all competitions since the turn of the year and has scored three goals, as well as providing one assist. His performances are those of a player who looks to have found his feet at the top level. Harvey Barnes has been in impressive form for Leicester City since the turn of the year The 22-year-old notched his third goal of 2020 in just four appearances against West Ham His strikes against Burnley and West Ham came in back-to-back Premier League matches, while his goal against Wigan helped the Foxes through to the fourth round of the FA Cup. They took his tally for the season to four, adding to his wonder-strike against Sheffield United that earned him Goal of the Month in August. That goal, encapsulated the excitement around the 22-year-old, as he latched on to Caglar Soyuncu's looped knockback to lash an explosive volley beyond Dean Henderson from the right-hand edge of the area. His ability to lay them on has caught the eye, too. Six times he has set up Leicester team-mates this season, including both goals during the 2-1 win over Burnley in October. One of those assists, laid on for Jamie Vardy, demonstrated just how dangerous he is down the left-hand side. Dribbling around three players with his right foot, he delivered a pin-point cross towards the back stick with his left, showcasing his ability with both feet. It is this attacking threat that has earned him the trust of manager Brendan Rodgers. Barnes started the season on the bench, making just two substitute appearances in the first three games. He was quick to take his chance though, and has since started 16 of the previous 21 fixtures. His work ethic fits in seamlessly with Rodgers, who likes his side to focus on quick transition from defence to attack. Brendan Rodgers has been glowing in his praise for the winger, tipping him for England duty Barnes was part of the England U20s squad that triumphed in the Toulon tournament in 2017 HARVEY BARNES — 2018-19 RECORD Appearances: 22 Goals: 3 Assists: 6 Big Chances Created: 4 Big Chances Missed: 5 *Premier League figures only Largely deployed on the left, Barnes is predominantly right footed, but has still had no problems this term delivering crosses with his weaker foot for team-mates to score. Advertisement His pace and power have been evident for some time – with Sportsmail’s very own Secret Scout picking up on those attributes while he was on loan at MK Dons. It is not only his demeanour on the field that has caught the attention of his boss, though. ‘He’s such a good kid, he’s not naturally arrogant so he’s coming to the level now in this last seven or eight months,’ Rodgers said following Barnes’s performance in the 9-0 demolition of Southampton. ‘I think once he has that real belief and personality – because that’s growing all the time – then he’s going to be a big, big player for Leicester and for England I think.’ It’s a far cry from the days of earning his stripes in the lower leagues, and following in his dad’s footsteps. ‘My dad has obviously been a big influence on me and he knows the value of playing in the Football League and gaining first-team experience,’ Barnes told the Telegraph in 2017. Barnes has earned his stripes while out on loan in the Football League at MK Dons and Barnsley The 22-year-old enjoyed and incredible six months on loan at West Brom in the Championship Paul was a striker who played for Birmingham City and Burnley among others. His moment in the sun came for York City when he scored twice to help them beat Manchester United in a 1995 League Cup tie. Barnes Jr’s experiences in the lower echelons proved just as productive. He scored six goals in all competitions for MK Dons in the 2016-17 campaign. Sportsmail's own Secret Scout went to watch Barnes during his time in Milton Keynes, observing: 'When he was wide left, meanwhile, he showed a desire to attack the right back and one run was particularly impressive. 'Driving into the box, he took a return pass and was only denied by a brilliant save from the goalkeeper. He looks an easy mover and although he is not standout quick, he is clever at making angles on his right side to combine.' He moved up to the Championship the following season, joining Barnsley on loan. His performances the year after for West Brom – where he had nine goals and eight assists after half a season – saw him earn a recall back to Leicester in January, an opportunity he suspected he would get. ‘I’m quite close to Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray, who have both been given chances so I’m optimistic that Leicester do want to bring through young players such as myself,’ he had said while at MK Dons. Having come through Leicester's academy, Barnes is very close with Hamza Choudhury He now gets the nod ahead of Gray under Rodgers, while another close companion, Hamza Choudhury, is also not hitting the same influential heights. He is still not the finished article, something his manager has been at pains to stress since arriving from Celtic. 'It is just a case of adding to what he has,' he said in April last year. 'We need to get him pressing higher up the pitch so you have more chances to create opportunities to score. 'He is a wonderful talent. He doesn’t have to get hung up on the goals side of it yet.' It is advice that he appears to be taking on board. His defensive work this season has been notably stronger, with his six interceptions already doubling his effort from last year. He has also recovered loose balls 63 times, which has helped his team set up on the counter time and again. His improvement, and ability to heed advice, have prompted talk of a possible England call-up ahead of Euro 2020. Barnes was Golden Boot winner at the Toulon tournament when England Under 20s triumphed in 2017. He also earned a place in Aidy Boothroyd’s side for the Under-21 European Championships last summer. As Rodgers suggested, it’s clear Barnes is on a pathway to Gareth Southgate’s team. How quickly he gets there is up to him. Barnes will be looking to push on and cement his place as a regular in the Foxes' line-up Aston Villa v Leicester: Carabao Cup match preview 4
