If we could clone Barnes and have the same player on the right, I'd do it.

Then the opposition wouldn't be able to do that and we wouldn't be so predictable.

He's a damn good player, but without the same threat on the opposite flank, we can be read like a book.

...having the option on the right could free up space for Barnes as it would occupy defenders!!!

But Barnes inability to take on his man in a one to one would still be there. If you can match his speed then he is not prepared to take on a foot race and will look to come inside. His decision making would be the same, he has always had a lack of belief in himself. So long as he does not have to think about his actions he is ok. He plays pretty much on instincts.

Absolutely brain-dead. Single handedly gave a poor defender (Trent) man of the match. He's a winger who can't take anyone on, other than a knock past and pace he has nothing about him. One on one against a defender sh*ts it every time. Least Ayoze has a stepover in his locker.

The talk of Barnes playing for England is frankly ridiculous imo.

He is not even close to Maddisons class and he will barely get a game while GS is in charge.

There are at least 10 players better than    " the local lad" and one good game in 20 is never going to cut it even if he played for one of Southgates favoured teams.

There's never talk of any other club wanting him either so what does that tell you?

There are more excuses on here for his dreadfully predictable football than he has skills (1).

For me Lookman was a much better option but he's not from Leicester so was not so easily forgiven for his "off days".

On his day a dangerous player, but is so one dimensional, never goes down the line, always looking to cut in.

As mentioned before he could be helped by having a theat on the right or a competent left footed left back.

All in all one of many City players apart from Vardy, Madders,  Tielemens and Evans who lacks football intelligence.

Play him in the middle, good centre forwards are at their best when they are greedy, wingers are not, we are struggling for goals with Daka (possibly injured) Vardy (not himself anymore) and Iheanacho (rubbish) so why not try one or two of the under 21/youth wide players against Fulham with Barnes as the number 9…

Which youth player would you start?

Our best option up front just got injured

No point having any wingers if they have to come inside every time.

The whole point of a winger is to go down the wing and put a cross in from as near the corner as possible.

But then again we have no one for them to cross to.

Thanawat, Madivadua, 2 young guns that have got to be a better option than Barnes or Perez out wide, loads of pace as well, mind you with our slow and laboured build up they would probably end up wandering back into our own half in search of the ball…

Somehow he made Alexander-Arnold look like prime Maldini last night. Its like a lottery with Barnes; he either comes out the Countesthorpe Robben or completely pony.

He cost nothing , Sancho was £75 million . Who would you rather have?

If that's the case then Mahrez, Robben, Ribery, Hazard and countless others who cut inside onto their stronger foot aren't/weren't wingers. It's like saying the whole point of a striker is to stand in the penalty area and shoot - times change.

Why call them wingers if they have to cut inside?

Right wingers should be able to cross with their right foot.

Left wingers should be able to cross with their left foot.

Pretty simple really.
