Ex Players - They used to play for us

Recommended Posts

HLN are reporting that Standard Liege are looking to reunite head coach Carl Hoefkens with Club Brugge attacker Kamal Sowah. The 23-year-old Ghanaian international appears to be surplus to requirements at Ronny Deila’s side, given that they have plenty of options to play in his position.

Last season, under Hoefkens, Sowah had his best period in a Club Brugge shirt since joining from Leicester City. After impressing on loan at OH Leuven, Sowah moved to Club Brugge for around €9m. However, he spent the second half of the season on loan at AZ Alkmaar. In 11 games for the Dutch side he failed to score in 11 games, but did manage to provide an assist. Should he leave Club Brugge for Standard Liege, he will leave having made 53 appearances, scoring twice and providing five assists.

According to the paper, Standard are looking for the initial agreement to be a loan for the 2023/2024 campaign. So far the side has failed to score in two matches, with Hertha Berlin striker Wilfried Kanga set to join on loan in an attempt to provide a goalscoring spark
