Ex Players - They used to play for us

I agree with you on three but Dion Dublin was the only shing light on what was a drab era.

Well we'll have to disagree all I saw was a player lording it with arm waving and pointing but very little involvement, casually strolling around the pitch, yeah he scored a few goals but for me that didn't compensate for his, to me obvious disinterest.

Also like a lot of 'famous' ex players he showed little or no interest in us until we won the League, Alan Smith, Savage even Lineker the list goes on.

It’s a tricky one with Mills. Actually thought he came across well and makes you wonder if Pearson was bang out of order, however you hear all this other stuff about Mills and reminds you that he probably is a massive twat.

Decent listen though.

I think he alludes to the fact he alienated himself from a lot of groups by being a bit of a dick and thinking that his way of thinking was the only correct way. Probably a case of him maturing with age and probably wanting him to portay himself as he sees himself now and not how he actually was back then.

I absolutely adore Pearson but he could be a bit awkward and weird at times, so it wouldn't surprise me if he did that lol

Completely agree, fact he’s since apologised to team mates for his behaviour speaks volumes.

Always a red flag when these footballers come on and everyone else seems to have been the problem.

Pearson probably didn't treat Mills fairly (although he wasn't a good footballer) but listening to everything else he said about it being a holiday camp, people training pissed, not bothering with gym sessions and you see what a task it is for any manager.

A serious amount of ego based on very little in that squad. You could imagine the players now are tough to manage at times but they've had stellar careers at club and international level- Pearson walked in and probably thought "Who are you lot to piss about?"

Pearson should've just said you're not good enough for where want to be.

Mills was class at Reading to be fair and then fairly shite wherever else he went.

Funny looking back now, the signings of him and Beckford had me ecstatic.

What happened next for Kamal Sowah, Sidnei Tavares and eight more Leicester City summer sales
Leicester City saw title-winners and exciting young prospects head for the exit during the summer, so halfway into their first seasons with new clubs, we have checked in on their progress

While Leicester City may not have waved goodbye to a high-profile star in a big-money move in the summer, there were a number of players who exited the club in search of pastures new.

They ranged from club legends, to promising youngsters, to long-serving academy lads, to unwanted flops.

Here’s how they have fared in the first few months at their new clubs...

Kamal Sowah – Club Brugge

It started off so well for Kamal Sowah. On his debut, he produced a brilliant assist with an exquisite crossfield pass, and then in his second game, he took on PSG’s Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar and came out with a draw.

But since then, it’s not gone to plan. Of all of City’s summer exits, Sowah was the one fans questioned most. He had shown versatility, talent, stamina, and promise in a breakout season for sister club OH Leuven, providing a combined 14 goals and assists in the Belgian Pro League as he started every single match either out wide or in behind the striker.

But to free up some funds – potentially around £7million – City sold the Ghanaian back to the country where his stock was exceptionally high, with Belgian champions Club Brugge bringing him in for what was their club-record fee.

But since those early performances, Sowah has not contributed to a single goal, while he has played just 24 minutes of their last nine league matches having been dropped to the bench.

Brugge are still competing at the top domestically, but they are out of Europe after finishing bottom of their tough group, which also included Manchester City and RB Leipzig.

For Sowah, the task is to get back into the team so he can contribute to their title push.

Sidnei Tavares – Porto

He was offered a new contract, while he was even given a Premier League start in a bid to make him stay, but Sidnei Tavares did not want to continue his career at City.

A Portuguese youth international, Tavares had grown up in City’s academy and had caught Brendan Rodgers’ eye when the manager first joined the club, to the extent that during an injury crisis last season, he was named in the 11 for the win at Brighton.

That did not convince him that his future was best served at City and he moved to the country he represents internationally with Porto, despite prominent links to Italian Serie B side Parma.

But whatever the plan was at Porto, it does not seem to be paying off. Placed into their B team, Tavares has not played a single fixture, and there is talk that he could be leaving in January.

Christian Fuchs – Charlotte FC

Title-winning left-back Christian Fuchs finally made his long-promised switch to the States, joining the newest MLS franchise, Charlotte FC.

As such, he has not yet played a game for them. Instead, he’s been turning out for sister club Charlotte Independence in the second-tier USL Championship, helping them to qualify for the play-offs. There, he scored in a win over Memphis 901 before defeat to LCFC (Louisville City) in the quarter-finals.

Now, he’s preparing for Charlotte FC’s inaugural MLS campaign, with their first fixture against DC United on February 26, 2022.

Matty James – Bristol City

He’s just one member of the red Leicester, Matty James joining Danny Simpson and Andy King under Nigel Pearson’s guidance down at Ashton Gate.

While Bristol City’s season has been up and down – they sit 18th, eight points shy of the play-offs and eight points above the relegation zone – the good news for James is that he has retained his fitness and played regularly.

In fact, he’s started 18 of the Robins’ 23 Championship fixtures so far, and grabbed his first goal for the club this month, with an excellent injury-time finish earning a point at Hull.

Rachid Ghezzal – Besiktas

Having been the star of the side to help Besiktas win a league and cup double on loan last season, it was no surprise the Turkish giants wanted Rachid Ghezzal back on a permanent deal.

But last season’s figures of eight goals and 18 assists have so far been hard to replicate, with just two goals and one assist registered this term.

Whether his form has suffered as a result of Besiktas’ own displays dropping off, or whether his under-performance has led to the club’s disappointment, but they lost all six of their Champions League group-stage matches, while only sit in mid-table in the Turkish Super Lig.

Josh Knight – Peterborough

Josh Knight never quite managed to make a breakthrough at City, despite representing the club’s Under-23s well for years, and finally left permanently in the summer.

Having proven his credentials at Championship level with Wycombe last season, where he was named player of the year, he was quickly snapped up by Peterborough, who he had represented on loan a couple of years earlier, now that the Posh were back in the second tier.

Playing at centre-back or in defensive midfield, Knight has been in and out of the side, but is currently on a run of four straight appearances as Peterborough try to get themselves out of the relegation zone. They are two points from safety at the halfway stage.

Admiral Muskwe – Luton

Admiral Muskwe was on a similar path to Knight, representing City’s Under-23s for a long period before joining Wycombe on loan last season.

His spell with the Chairboys earned him a deal at Luton in the Championship, and the wait for a first league goal goes on.

He scored in his first start for the Hatters in a Carabao Cup match against Stevenage, but is yet to find the net in the Championship for them. Game-time has been limited though, with just four league starts to the Zimbabwean’s name.

Darnell Johnson – Fleetwood

It started so well for Darnell Johnson, scoring on his debut for Fleetwood in a 3-2 win over Cheltenham Town. It was an unbeaten start too, including a victory over City in the Papa John’s Trophy.

But in his fourth outing, he hobbled off, and assessments showed that he had suffered a torn Achilles, an injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season.

Mitch Clark – Accrington Stanley

It’s a very similar story for Mitch Clark, who also made a decent start to life at his new club, and was involved in a Papa John’s Trophy win over City too.

But injury has affected his season as well, and he’s not played a single League One fixture since September. But he should be fit again soon to resume playing with Stanley, who are outside contenders for a play-off spot.

Darragh O’Connor – Motherwell

Irish centre-half Darragh O’Connor headed north after being released by City, but he has not yet made his breakthrough with Motherwell.

He played in four of their six League Cup group-stage games to help them through to the knockout stages, but has only played one minute of football in the Scottish Premiership.

Of all those players that have left, this must be the strangest one. He must be looking at the likes of KDH to wonder what might have been if he'd knuckled down. Can't even say that he had his head turned by the prospect of Porto reserves or brink of squad selection in the Premier League. All very weird and suspect a story that are are not aware of. Or just bad advice? What a waste (so far). Wonder if City would take him back, if he wanted to.

He's a strange one as when he was here he kept disappearing for a month or two quite frequently as well.
