Sure that was Norway pre-season tour. Remember getting reports they were winning 7 or 8 nil.

Not the most talented team but as a kid they were my heroes.

Thinking back, they did amazing to compete at the top end of the championship given some of the talent in other teams.

Blackburn were the Man City of the time.

Forest had a PL team and Collymore was a machine.

Derby had invested heavily. So many of their team went on to have good PL careers despite losing to us.
Palace were another with a PL base. Solako, Shaw, Armstrong, Gordon and the keeper Martyn were PL team.

They were truly underdogs.

Is that Kevin Russell at the front there in the 14 jersey?

Reckon he'd be around 25 years old in this picture.

Bloke must've had a hellish paper round.

I did work experience at LCFC around the time of the Cambridge and Blackburn play off games. Remember John Gregory trying to sell Naf Naf jackets from bin liners. Mike Whitlow and Simon Grayson asked me to help send a fax to Leeds to congratulate them on the league title. Lovely lads. Wonderful time to be in and around the club.
