moore_94 Posted 14 October 2019 Share Posted 14 October 2019 We were linked to him in April https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/who-leicester-city-target-omar-2799775 He was probably one of the players on the list of back up right backs until we got Justin He was also linked with Celtic previously We are probably only thrown into the list because we have prior interest from the club and also the manager

jayfox26 Posted 15 October 2019 Share Posted 15 October 2019 Lazy journalism. Highly doubt we'd be after him when we have Ricardo and Justin. If there was any thoughts that we'd be selling Ricardo next summer (doubt we will/hope we don't), we would be looking at a much better replacement than this guy. Selling Ricardo for £70m plus and replacing him with a freebie from Olympiakos doesn't seem like something we'd do.

That’d make more sense but like you, I hope it isn’t the case.
Clever Fox Posted 15 October 2019 Share Posted 15 October 2019 He's a bit old for us at 27 and doesn't fit our profile. So I doubt we have any real interest unless he's a bit special.

Muzzy_Larsson Posted 15 October 2019 Share Posted 15 October 2019 We tried to sign him last January, £4-5m was the figure being quoted, not seen much of him so no idea if he's any good or what, sort of recall some chat about him picking up quite a lot of injuries though. davieG Posted 28 June 2020 Share Posted 28 June 2020 SAINTS, LEICESTER AND BURNLEY TARGET OMAR ELABDELLAOUI REPORTEDLY IN TALKS OVER SUMMER MOVE Tom Thorogood 1 hour ago Agent Mikail Adampour says reported Southampton, Leicester City and Burnley target Omar Elabdellaoui is in talks with clubs over a summer move, the ScottishSun report. The Norway international’s contract at Olympiacos is set to expire. The Greek club have agreed with Elabdellaoui a short-term deal to cover the rest of the season, but the fullback then intends to move on in August. According to SDNA, Southampton, Leicester and Burnley are all keen on him. And Elabdellaoui’s agent has told reporters he is in talks with clubs over a potential deal. “We are in dialogue with many teams in Europe. Omar is captain of both club and his national team and has led the only team in Europe so far undefeated in the league and well on his way to taking his fourth title success. He is playing the best football of his career and the interest in him is massive,” Adampour explained. ELABDELLAOUI APPEARS READY FOR THE BIGGEST MOVE OF HIS CAREER: At 28, the Olympiacos captain is approaching his peak and his stock is high after helping the Greek side dump Arsenal out of the Europe League. A move to the Premier League would make plenty of sense. Southampton have Kyle Walker-Peters on loan while Cedric Soares could move to loan club Arsenal permanently. The Saints will need to strengthen. Burnley will lose Phil Bardsley at the end of his contract while Elabdellaoui could pose a different kind of option to regular starter Matt Lowton. Leicester, meanwhile, will be keen to strengthen ahead of a likely Champions League campaign next year. Moreover, the Foxes may want to provide cover for Ricardo Pereira who is still out injured after suffering an ACL injury. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/06/28/saints-leicester-and-burnley-target-omar-elabdellaoui-reportedly-in-talks-over-summer-move/

Finnegan Posted 28 June 2020 Share Posted 28 June 2020 Before everyone realised we were shit: "Barcelona, Real Madrid and Leicester" Now everyone's cottoned on: "Burnley, Southampton and Leicester" That was fast. 1
Muzzy_Larsson Posted 28 June 2020 Share Posted 28 June 2020 Was linked with us heavily while Rodgers and Congerton were at Celtic, meant to be a half-decent player but quite injury prone. I'd have thought Leicester's sights would be aimed higher though.

If Rodgers has been linked with him before I assume its just someone reusing an old story for column inches.

SheppyFox Posted 30 June 2020 Share Posted 30 June 2020 A defender shouldn’t be a priority IMO, it’s a winger and a goal scorer we need.
Scotch Posted 30 June 2020 Share Posted 30 June 2020 And even at that, a RB is the last kind of defender we need. LB and CB take priority over it.
