Kelechi Iheanacho

Great player. Seriously thinking if he plays somewhere every week he's 20+ goals a season, another country where his physicality is emphasised and he'd do even better. Only faults are first touch and not the best off the ball movement sometimes ... maybe mentality, but with confidence he's twice the player.

I'm starting to think if none of Vardy*, Daka or Iheanacho are that effective up front alone, it might the manager or the systems that are the problem rather than the players. I can't find it now but a few weeks ago I saw some data viz that showed we barely create anything centrally, it's all from the wide areas.

*Not touching the ball game and then scoring because he's one of the most effective strikers in world football isn't proof the system is effective.

This. This is the central reason as to why our strikers in the lone striker role are rather ineffective. We have nothing centrally because we so predictably always go through the wide channels (so easy to defend too except the occasional Barnes or Lookman brilliance). We have nothing centrally because Rodgers loves having a Ndidi in the team who goes into hiding when we are pressed and so we are forced to go to the sides. When Mendy played those 60 mins, all of a sudden we were going through the middle too and consequently we could also go through the sides better because the options opened up.

Played well tonight but it was obvious he needed to be subbed for those last ten minutes he looked spent. Doesn’t like Pérez does he.

We'd already used 3 sub windows.

No further subs allowed.

Touch, hold up and link up play was superb tonight, plus put the one proper chance he had in the net (even though he was offside).

It's just about making sure that he has some support or a couple of players running beyond him.

If Harvey Barnes could have finished he'd have had an assist as well, absolutely on a plate for him but scuffed it.

He should have put the rebound in, it was a sitter. His refusal to use his right foot at times is infuriating. If a professional footballer couldn't prod a ball with pretty much the entire goal to aim at first time then it's quite extraordinary.

It was waist height? What's he meant to hit it with, his genitals?

Hahahaa I mean the ball was coming down, it was easier to wait a millisecond to then prod it/hir it than it was try and get it under control given he's a better first time finisher than he is controlling a ball.
