Its been a while since we scored 2 goals or more in a game!

 

It's not that surprising though. It's been coming for the best part of 10 years. Nobody in our squad has been at Champions League level since Duff, O'Shea and Keane back in 2009-11.  The organization of the game at home has fallen off a cliff. MON performed a minor miracle with us up until when it went wrong mid 2017.

 

Really we didn't make the most of the underage success in 97-98. It was really from 2000-10 that we had to make it count. Saipan caused a lot of damage to us long term. Only getting to 1 major finals was a bad return give what we had. We got to Euro 2012 which was too late for the 00s stalwarts.

 

Although give our size we have done well up to now. We've hit the same lows as Wales and Northern Ireland in the mid to late 90s but since 88 we've qualified for almost as many tournaments as both those and Scotland combined.

 

Our prospects don't look good.

Appreciate the detailed, informative response to my flippant comment lol it's good to have some actual reasoning behind it all! 

 

There seems to be some glimmers of talent youngster wise but seems to me like all in one spot? So lots of good young forwards but not a lot going on to provide for them? (Idah and Connelly i'm referencing here)
