On this day - 11 February 1966 St Margaret's Baths opened on Vaughan Way in Leicester. The baths were described as “beautiful” and “in a splendid central position”. These splendid baths only lasted forty years.

 

I believe they made the mistake of building the main pool 50ft and not 50m so it was no good for competitions and probably competitive training.

Wholesale Market on Halford St prior to being demolished. Looks like it could have been converted maybe a shopping arcade or home units. We seem so quick to destroy stuff even today.
