How do the locals regard the town hall. I have always thought it an attractive warm building. Not too over the top like some around the country.

Spoke to Paul today (probably the youngest member of the quarter century club)…. He said you were all due another meal soon!!  Just learned that Jane (the old receptionist)( died a few months back…. Shame

 

Paul reminded me that I was due to do a presentation to the quarter century club about our innovation, but, COvID put a stop to it…!

 

 I love Sarah Kirby’s art…. And did see the picture she did of the old Gent factory…. She does a lot of great stuff around Leicester and I own 4 of her pieces…. Would like more!

In 1877 the 18th President of the United States - General Ulysses S Grant was on his world tour. On this day, 31st May 1877 he gave an address in Leicester whilst en route from Manchester to London.

Moving back up to Leeds this month via a stint in Nottingham and I'll genuinely miss town man. Take the "used to it" goggles off -  St Martin's is brilliant and it was great to see loads of people out and about on a Tuesday afternoon. I think shopping centres are shite but the Highcross as a thing is better than anything in the region and has aged so well. 

 

It could be a phenomenal city if the people living in it wanted it to be

The Victoria Centre in Nottingham is just dire. IMO the only decent area in that city is that in front of the town hall. Some decent pubs and places to eat.

Maybe the Lace Market arcade too IIRC.
