Mind you, can't always make assumptions from names or the blurb next to FT photos: I just misread "Rodgers IN" as your location and thought you were living in a small town in Indiana. I'm with you on your point, though. By my late 20s, I was just about becoming capable of looking after myself, but took a couple more years before I'd have been able to look after a child.....finally reaching parenthood just short of 42. Said child is now sufficiently close to adulthood that I've started looking forward to "doing so much" for the second time, before it's too late. Indeed, the big 30 this year which I haven't been looking forward to as I don't want to let go of my 20's If you reached parenthood at 41/42 then it gives me hope. It just seems there's so much pressure and expectation in your 20's/30's that you've gotta be married and have kids etc. I just love nights out still, football at weekends, going away when I can etc.

He already had 11 other kids How the F did he manage parenthood at 73? Also: Ramjit Raghav is reportedly the oldest father in the world. In 2012, Raghav fathered his second son at the age of 96. He first garnered international media attention in 2010 when his first son was born and Raghav claimed that he was about 94 years old at the time. There's plenty of time for you

There's plenty of time for you I think you can still knock out swimmers till very old, so as long as you can keep the meat stiff and find a willing partner there’s not much to the actual process I’d have thought. Bit late to actually be bringing up kids though but no problem if you’re rich. My grandmother’s second husband had kids in his seventies (my half uncle & aunt) Edited 6 January 2022 by WigstonWanderer

I got precisely zero birthday cards, never mind presents. Admittedly, I'd moved to a new city for work and was never in the habit of exchanging birthday cards with old friends, but it was a bit of a poor show that even my parents forgot, I thought! I was similar at your age, too busy enjoying myself with travel, gigs & socialising, and didn't even think seriously about kids until mid-30s. The decision to try for kids should only be taken if and when you and your partner are ready for it, I think - and for positive reasons, not to do "the expected thing". Hopefully, you'll also pair up with someone who still enjoys going out occasionally - or tolerates you doing so - even if it happens a lot less regularly, given the commitments and financial constraints. I look forward to my second extended youth starting within a couple of years, I hope. 1 hour ago, Parafox said: Charlie Chaplin become a father at 73yrs old ? There's plenty of time for you Family history is one of my interests now I'm an older, sedater bloke. Official records show that one of my great-great-granddads fathered 9 kids between the ages of 62 and 80. Even if his age was overstated by a few years, I'm in awe of this virile 19th century Irish peasant. Life's a strange old lottery sometimes.
Guest SO1 Posted 6 January 2022 Share Posted 6 January 2022 What a sad joke my country has become. The ruling class and its masters doing everything they can to deflect attention away from the real problems the people of this country have. Still no affordable health care for all. 750+ billion a year for the defense department is no problem though. No problem paying for that. Many people in this country getting sick of watching Dumb and Dumber double down on failure every day. Including many who voted for them. Keep on expecting something to happen, the final straw, but maybe it already has. And there's nothing the government can/will do about it because that action will be too late. That ship has sailed and I guarantee you it has nothing to do with Washington DC or our so called representatives. We are on our own.

Darkly funny that he's got all the hardware ready for action in Ukraine but now he might have to shift it a couple thousand miles east instead.
