If there was a vaccine to prevent cancer or premature death, for example, how many would refuse?

You would hope that if such a thing like that became available it would first go through lengthy time trials like normal vaccines. Not rushed through in less than a year. As things stand, no one knows if there will be long term side effects from these mRNA vaccines. There is a vaccine in use now to protect against cervical cancer, isn’t there?

You p*ss out 95% of the vaccine content in an hour. Everything has left your body in 72 hours. There will be no long term issues with MRNA vaccines. There is a likelihood that there will be long term issues if you have an unvacinated covid infection.

Really don't get it anymore, no underlying health issues and in my early 40s yet my doctors made an effort to get me jabbed due to being in a vulnerable group..... First jab and 2nd both done before my mum who's in her 60s with bad asthma had hers....now 7 months since my 2nd jab and its like nah mate, you can bugger off fame fashions or highcross for that 🤔

The vaccine you are talking about is against the HPV virus which can cause the cervical cells to mutate and possibly become cancerous. It is not a vaccination for cancer, no.

The vaccine for covid has not been 'rushed through', mrna vaccines have been around for over 10 years now. I really can't believe this has to be said yet again, and that people still don't understand the very basics of what we have been discussing for nearly two years now. It's incredible that people still can't grasp it.

I have to slightly disagree - i find it totally believable that people are proudly and determinedly UNWILLING  to grasp it.

Bit of a tangent but I watched a documentary on Netflix called Human Nature before the vaccine had been made. I can't remember loads of it but it covered mRNA/Crispr and one of the case studies was a young boy with Sickle Cell Anemia who *I think* was one of the first people to be born with the edited mRNA. Very interesting and enlightening to see what modern science is doing for people with these rare diseases.

I do worry that with mRNA (or more specifically gene-editing pre-birth) we have crossed a threshold we can never uncross and that at some point this will be weaponised somehow, but that's nothing to do with covid really and is a separate discussion. On which I'm sure someone much more informed would debate me about what I've said!

Until covid came along, they had never been used for mass vaccination of humans.

I'm not a covid denier I've had 2 jabs. But I am 100% against so called vaccine passports, mandatory vaccines, Lockdowns and government coercion in regard to this pandemic. What we're seeing now in Europe is truly frightening. Look at parts of Australia, They're behaving like dictators. Make no mistake, our freedoms as we've known them are at stake here. All in the name of a pandemic, yeah right. Do you really believe they're doing all this in the name of protecting your health against a virus which has killed just 0.2% of population in this Country and most others.

How do you explain the fact that in Gibraltar and to a slightly lesser extent, Israel. 98% of people are twice and 3 x jabbed, yet Gibraltar has one of the highest rates of covid infections on the planet, with virtually everyone in hospital having been vaccinated.

I haven’t been on here before today. And hadn’t taken that much interest prior to all the talk of mandatory vaccination.

Are you sure?

I'm quite comfortable with the unvaccinated being denied ventilator treatment. Basically anyone healthy shouldn't end up on one and anyone unhealthy should live (or die) with their choice.

As far as I know however, got first hand from an icu nurse freind at qmc, the selection criteria for ventilators is fairly strict and, it's little mentioned that the elderly, co morbidites and fat ****s never get near a ventilator. Can @z-layrexconfirm?

Not true at all. You wouldn't not intubate because someone was fat or had co-morbidities (unless the patient had severe problems). Age is another matter, that can be a fine balance between what's happened to the patient, previous baseline, and how much of a twat the doctor is who's making the call. I've seen people in their 80s tubed and wanted to throttle whoever did it.

Dying on an icu is not something I'd wish on anyone.

There is no limit to what people will believe, regardless of facts.  The one that gets me is that Princess Diana spent the last evening of her life at Mohammed Fayed's house, with Mohammed Fayed's family, drinking Mohammed Fayed's drinks and eating Mohammed Fayed's food, before setting off in Mohammed Fayed's car with Mohammed Fayed's son and with Mohammed Fayed's chauffeur driving the car.  And they see Prince Philip's fingerprints all over it!

No vaccine or medicine has really been tested for long term effects, as you’d have to test them for the life span of an adult. All vaccines, like this one go into general use and a test group are just monitored.

This is where your anti vax tossers twist the truth and say it’s not passed trials. It has, it’s just in the standard monitoring phase they all go through.

Vaccine hesitancy is your prerogative, but may I suggest this shot in the arm instead before making another ill informed post on this thread?

Michael Gunner’s performance was brilliant. He is desperately trying to combat misinformation and disinformation amongst vulnerable aboriginal communities in remote parts of NT that are only partially vaccinated. A combination of poor health, poor, overcrowded accomodation, low vaccination rates and poor health facilities means that the virus could rip though these communities and do significant damage. In addition, the elders in these communities would be most at risk, possibly having a devastating effect on their culture.

Probably best that you (and the tosser you’re quoting) don’t comment on things you don’t understand.
