I know its all about hospital numbers and there is more testing etc. However, that figure made me sit back a bit.

Case numbers are going through the roof. Hospitalisations are also taking on that trend. However, for now, deaths are heading downwards.

Silly question, if you are just coming out of isolation after having Covid, is there a chance you could also get the Omicron variant immediately afterwards? Or should a double Pfizer vaccine and antibodies from the first virus stop me from getting the new variant for the time being?

I haven't really seen this answered anywhere. I saw an anecdotal case about someone in Iceland getting Omicron less than a month after recovering from Delta, but obviously there's an anecdote for everything.

 

You'll be very very well protected against severe illness, that's for sure.

Vaccination is just one weapon in our armoury against Covid, there are many others purposefully ignored.

Deaths seemed to peak mid nov and have been fairly flat since the back end nov. Cases dropped mid nov and have steadily increased since then. The fact that we are still fairly flat a month later is good and probably related to the booster program. 

 

a surge in cases now should lead to increased deaths by mid jan.  but how much ???  And even if deaths don’t become significant larger from covid, if hospitals are overwhelmed, then the govt have to do something to prevent that. It’s never really been about deaths since the early days - it’s always been about the NHS ………. So much uncertainty away from the knowledge that cases are going through three roof!

If the booster campaign goes as hoped, the vast majority of triple vaccinated would have immunity boosted by mid-third week of January, the most vulnerable comfortably past the strengthened barrier stage.

 

If they lock down with all that in place, we're having it virtually every year.
