Mark Harper is decent.

One has to ask why would they ask the modellers to work in this way.  What do they have to gain?

We've had a daily dose of a continual doom and gloom messages for the past 18 months to the point that noone is prepared to question anything though.  At least Harper, and others, are beginning to question the narrative.

As I have eluded to many times, Ferguson and his numbers are extremely damaging.  His numbers tend to start off another chain of events as appears to be the case currently.

Is it really about you, or I, or anyone, being ‘convinced’ though?

I’m not convinced of much - if anything - about this whole thing, and to be honest the only people who seem to be convinced about any of it seem to be idiots. So don’t worry about not being convinced!

The jabs and boosters are the best we have at the moment, so let’s have them, and let’s also do what other things we can to minimise transmission.

Within reason

I genuinely can’t believe some of the shit I see on here about unvaccinated people being refused treatment or having to pay on top of their NI contributions for treatment for COVID.

Should raging alcoholics with liver issues or drug abusers be refused treatment by the NHS? Should lifetime smokers with lung cancer be refused treatment? Should obese people be refused treatment on the NHS? I heard a comment recently, which I am trying to find evidence for that said 90% of ICU patients for COVID in the past 6 months have had a BMI of 40.0+, shall we just leave them to die because they are morbidly obese? Should we refuse to treat gang members who have been involved in stabbings/shootings and just leave them in the street to die?

All of the above cost tax payers, why no outrage about any of this?

Didn't know there was a vaccination available to help Drunk, Obese, Lifetime smokers etc.. if there was I'm sure they'd all be lining up to have it?

Your argument is ridiculous!!

This will happen every year. This isn't because 100% of people aren't vaccinated in the UK, its because variants will come every year and our health service is on its arse. Western countries won't be seen to go against the grain drastically either so if there's appetite for lockdowns close by then others will follow, including our own nation.

Don't believe a word any of them say about how this ends in the short to medium term as they've proven time and time again that we are sitting ducks and there's precious little we can do to stop it. Following the rules to the letter and having all the doses of the vaccine won't make any difference to this either it will keep coming. See you all again for lockdown 5 same time next year.

Pretty much, even with milder variants they had their fingers burnt before and we always work on the just in case basis , this is the new normal there's no going back.

Whats so alarming is just how delicate our way of life is. I don't see how our health system recovers, it will get worse and with that it will be a nightmare for them to be seen to do the right thing. People are living in a dream world if they think this obsession with testing can continue and us live happily ever after. As soon as the cases rise then its panic stations, which there's an element of understanding about that but we are perpetuating the fear and behaviour of it and we don't stand a chance of living with covid and getting on with it. Every winter this is inevitable.

That's it, the whole outbreak has damaged society in a way I don't think we can recover. The cases will always be an obsession, the worst case scenario will always be the one feared. Theres just no hope we will ever get back to where we were, it's just going to evolve from here.

As I have eluded to many times,

And you consistently get it wrong. The word you're looking for is 'alluded'.

You do however repeatedly evade the facts which have eluded you many times.

And what of the Mike Yeadon 'numbers' that you insisted on uncritically posting last year and now refuse to acknowledge?

Congratulations on spotting a grammatical error.

Aha, back to Yeadon.  Again.  You always quote Yeadon expecting a response.  Yeadon may well have been kicked into touch and censored but one has to question why Ferguson hasn't received similar treatment as he is consistently wrong time and time again but still comes up smelling of roses.

Cut out the jobs for the sake of jobs middle management, and use their salary to employ more frontline staff

Oh- and stop forcing staff to use or lose their annual leave in the busiest time of their year 😂😂

Just a question, as an NHS worker, who manages the multi million pound budgets each department/directorate gets when you fire all the middle managers?

Where do you find all these trained frontline staff now we’ve so brilliantly Brexited and can’t get anyone in (particularly bad in my specialism Nationwide)?

Also the NHS annual leave runs April to March, therefore no-one is fixed to use it in the winter busy period!

It isn't a grammatical error - it's the wrong word entirely and it wasn't hard, since you've done it every time.

He really doesn't and as I said earlier today, is quite prepared to accept when he is wrong.

You make it sound as though Mike Yeadon is hard done by lol. What is your own particular view now on his reckless, irresponsible and dangerous claims/disinformation that you posted on this thread a year ago?

I don’t see how Fysh is coming to that conclusion from what Medley has said.

Scientists are asked to model a scenario - “model what we are asked to model”.

How is that “slanting the evidence”?

Cod knows what Fysh is going on about! Whale have to sea what happens over the next couple of months.

Haddock it have been made clearer I might of commented more. But right now I'm going to clam up.

Anyway he's small fry so don't listen to him carping on?

In the words of John McEnroe….you cannot be serious!!! I’m sure there’s an excellent meme in response to what you’ve just written. I wish I was as good at Line-x at taking people down

The NHS are under strain because it’s so poorly ran.

They can possibly claim they’re underfunded, but didn’t £55m go ‘missing’ from Leicester Hospitals last year?

The higher management maybe?

The middle management haven’t done a great job in managing the finances losing that £55m have they?

The job has to become more appealing doesn’t it- to attract the staff. We have plenty of people in this country, they just don’t want to do the job yet.

As for the annual leave thing- the nurses I know have built up so much annual leave over this year, that they’ve got to start using them now for fear of not using all of them by March.

I’m not saying the government are faultless in all this. Clearly they’re not. But Trusts need to start getting their own house in order before pointing fingers at the government

What about the ward refurbishments at Glenfield about 10 years ago?

Our company were fitting the new sense operated basin taps at £1000 a pop, doing various numbers of wards. The hospital meanwhile decided that what they’d specified weren’t fit for purpose, and the wards that were finished first were in the process of having them removed and replaced with something else 🤷🏻‍♂️

We get so much money wastage in servicing and maintaining hospitals fire alarms.

Sat around for hours on end waiting for permits to be signed. One time I waited 6 hours (2 men) for one.
