people that are havin jabs seem to be more ill after having the vaccine strange .. surely if you dont feel bad agter e years of this goin round then there is no need to have the vaccine

Wrong. People get more ill after catching covid. Some even get very, very ill and die.

Sorry to break the news.

I was speaking to somebody that I went to school with yesterday who said that this weekend will effectively be her last weekend of socialising for the forseeable future as a result of the 19th restrictions ending. She has cystic fibrosis and had a lung transplant a few years ago, but naturally remains vulnerable to infection etc.

I fully appreciate that the world cannot stop forever and circumstances like hers are few and far between, but one must feel incredibly let down and forgotten about in those situations. I also can't imagine the anger you'd have towards people who can't whack a mask on for a 5 minute browse around Waterstones for the sake of your health.

cases like this are a real shame and the goverment should compensate these people who can not carry on a normal life.. all because someone forgot to follow lab protocols .. what a tragic time to be living in.

Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt

Ah. Thanks.

Well, anyone who doesn’t have a bit of uncertainty or doubt sometimes is probably an idiot.

You really do stink this group out Mr Doom and Gloom. If you wish to wear a mask, you go ahead, but expect to be berated by people like me who aren’t mentally inept at deciding how to live our lives with freedom. Sad.

Ok, I stepped away for a bit coz I was giving in to the temptation to be a bit of an arse there.

Please don’t have a go at people for wearing a mask. They will be making what they feel to be the right decision, and probably doing it to try to benefit other people at least as much as themselves. Also, their wearing a mask does you no harm, so why should it annoy you?

3.8m people are classed as clinically vulnerable. That’s an awful lot of people!

Doesn't he understand that it's not about him. It's about protecting others. Were these people born selfish or did they learn to be? Wonder if this happened during blackouts in WW2? FU, I'm not turning my lights out. It's my freedom. They would probably have got themselves locked up.

He doesn’t sound like someone for whom this would be very high on on their priority list.

Anyone heard of the main supermarkets policy re. masks? I know Poundland will continue but not heard of others.

In Sainsburys it is to "be encouraged".

Will be interesting to see the publics reaction.  Wonder how many will back down, be respectful and continue to follow the majority?

After all, last year masks were introduced roughly 6 months after the first wave in supermarkets.

Decent chunks seem to struggle to properly wear one now and it's mandatory so I'm not optimistic.

I noticed more without masks in Lidl earlier in the week. Bound to be a lot worse next Monday. I'll guess 50/50 as this country is hopelessly divided yet again.

We currently have the highest rate of new infections in the world. World beating. Led by donkeys.

Loads of people round here suddenly getting Covid and schools are making whole classes self-isolate left, right and centre.

Feels like its picking up pace now; might be entirely anecdotal but there we are. They don't call me Mr Anecdote for nothing. Actually, they don't call me Mr Anecdote at all. As far as I know. But that's another story; or rather it isn't as I just told the so-called story, if it can indeed so-be-called, as it were, which it is, or isn't.

We also have the highest rate of testing in the world.

And one of the highest vaccinated population.

What would be interesting is what's the extent of symptoms causing them to test.

For example, I have had a bit of sniffle these past three days, so I did a lateral flow yesterday and it was negative. If people are using the same notion and their symptoms are relatively light. If we are slowly down grading COVID into the way we view the flu, the constant testing is going to cause a headache. We are testing for the sake of testing. The use of lateral flows is giving us a wider net to identify COVID infections and therefore our case rate reflects badly against other nations.

Looked at a comparison - test per thousands people

UK - 16.25

US - 1.21

Brazil - 0.35

India - 1.31

France - 4.50

Germany - 1.18

A ventilator went off in my face at work, I've now tested positive on the flow test. Feel pretty crappy too, coughing and shivering all night. Waiting for PCR courier test.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you make a really speedy recovery.
