garbage and Thomas had a bad game, when was the last time Thomas had a 9/10 performance of MOTM? bit of a filler player but we have blue tinted specs because he is from Leicester

When was the last time Bertrand/ Castagne/ Ricardo had a 9/10 MOTM performance? He got exposed on Saturday but with absolutely zero protection in front or behind him what do people expect? He played LWB, when he's clearly only comfortable at LB currently (let's remember his age...)

I really like Amartey but to say that he has become a reliable member of the defence while we're leaking around 2 goals a game is a worrying position to be in.

It feels like a few teams have evolved and improved in 2021 while we're going backwards.

It will be really interesting to see if we can change this pattern or not.

Kinda agree but also we have ricardo Justin Fofana out. If you went into any prem side and took 3 of their starting back 4 out they would leak goals too

Absolutely this. None of Thomas, Castagne or Ricardo are proper wing backs and are therefore just trying their best to fulfill a role given to them by Rodgers. Ricardo and Castagne are though excellent full backs and attack well from deep. Thomas is also very competent for this stage in his career and his second half performance bears testament to this.

Rodgers in playing the 3 5 system effectively weakens our defence because we have to play at least on mediocre centre half in either Armarty or Vestergaard and also doesn't get the best out of the current fullbacks available to him. Wanting to defend and being able to is the first priority of a fullback.

By playing a 4 at the back you surely play to your defensive strengths. Playing Ndidi, Soumare and Tielemans in front both protects that defence and allows Tielemans that little bit of leeway regarding defensive duties. Add any 3 of Vardy, Iheanacho, Daka, Barnes or Lookman in a 4321, 433, or even 4231 and I think you have a more robust setup from the start without having to piss about on 60/70 minutes. Yes, Maddison is missing but to be honest, he's no great loss at the moment anyway.

It's almost as if, and hear me out here please, he's not actually one of our first choice XI and he's only filling in because of injury? Crazy to think I know but just consider it at least.

Genuinely delighted for him. He is being asked to play with the ball at his feet, alot more than he is comfortable with, but he is coming through in more games and showing he has what it takes to contribute to the team... Big Dan 👏🏼

DA was class on the ball topped it with a goal, a performance that warrants playing a back 4 with him and Evans, I know there wasn't much of a threat from Spartak, an we still conceeded, but we need to make space for some more creative players. When Justin is back, Justin, Evans, Amartey and Castagne could fill the void until Fofana returns.

He adapts really well to whatever he gets asked to do. He's never going to be like Beckenbauer on the ball he quietly improves each season. He's the least of our worries at the back currently.
