He is not switched on enough to close down quick enough. Lacks awareness and focus. And is generally mediocre in every aspect you need to be a quality CB. He said he sees them in training every day and bases [selection on] the consistency and mentality. He also said Soyuncu had been unsettled by the possibility of leaving.” Hmm. Amartey is a decent passer but lacks the proactivity, aggression and speed of thought needed at the highest level for a defender. Has a major error in him every game. Hopefully he’s nowhere near the 1st team after transfer deadline day, at most cover for the RB position while Ricardo is injured. I reckon he was brought in as someone who could be thrown on as last minute cover in a few varied positions. It isn’t his fault he is now needed to apparently start and he is just doing his job as best he can. Not every game do we create so many,but to be fair we havent half built up a bucket full of good chances over a few games,we havent converted… Both Vardy & Barnes today could of finished with Hattricks,throw in the subs & midfield decent chances…we are scrambling & struggling to convert.. In their blind hate for Rodgers,some have missed we actually played well on the whole today…Away at Chelsea creaming off the best players,one of the best squads in Europe…We are at present not even one of the also runs,because we can’t convert…I would debate our Defense has improved over 15 games.. But we are simply too nice, & lacking clinical end discipline… Its a question can Rodgers, & strikers turn those moments,its putting our defence under unwarranted pressure…We know our Bline has too many breakable objects.. First goal he should have closed the shot quicker, it’s not the first time this has happened this season and the second goal he’s not in line with Evans, if he was in a better position then he would have cleared that cross. These games he’s played has really shown how poor he is unfortunately. Fofana is the main guy to blame, he’s cost us 2-3 points already this season.
