Southgate is very much like Rodgers. Results for the most part are decent (ignoring the start of this season) but the football is often boring and safe and they are both stubborn and pretty unlikeable.

It’s irrelevant if Maddison is better than mount or anyone else for that matter. It’s the fact that the total tool in charge will not bring on madders or any of the other players who havnt played. He knows what Mount can do and others. We have won this why not give them minutes.

A) nobody outside of Leicester uses that phrase. Just posters on here. B) I don't think Southgate has a big club bias anyways - Rice, Kalvin Phillps (at Leeds) Maguire (with us), Pickford. He's just not tactically smart enough to utilize Madders.

Only way he gets international football is leaving us, look at how Vardy was utilised in that setup, they just don’t see Leicester players as England internationals. I don’t even think it’s a big club bias, just a boys club that we very much aren’t a part of.

Southgate has made it pretty clear that Maddison doesn’t fit into the way he wants to play.  His best chance of getting game time is probably if we have 10 mins to go against France, are one down and everything we have tried has not worked.

 

 Not giving Coady any game time makes even less sense to be honest.

Yes, he qualifies for Ireland as he has an Irish grandparent, but he can’t switch as his 1 cap was in a competitive game after the age of 21.

Didnt someone (Diego Costa?) play multiple games for Brazil(?) before he switched to play for Spain(?)

Tonight has actually shown first of all that Southgate did indeed only picked Maddison because or the clamour for him to be picked by pretty much everyone but himself, and that there is zero chance that he is going to give him any game time.  The fact that Southgate seems to believe that Mason Mount is a better player really is quite bizarre.

What a shame for Madders. It was an absolutely perfect opportunity to bring him on today and Southgate basically demonstrated that he is viewed as a spare part. If he had any intention to use him at all, he would have given him some safe minutes to help him get back up to speed in a match situation so he is ready if needed. Instead he is wilfully left uninvolved. It's basic management to make everyone feel involved. He's the only attacking player to get no minutes at all.

He represented Brazil in 2 friendlies. Same with Declan Rice who played 3 friendlies  for Ireland.

 

You can switch if you have only have played friendlies or competitive matches under the age of 21. Rice actually deliberately only played friendlies and deselected himself from competitive matches for Ireland for this reason.

 

Again though, Maddison’s cap was in a competitive match when he was 22, so he can’t switch.

Just hope the next time big nosed waistcoat man comes to the KP to watch a game we give him a seat in the far back corner behind the away fans...dumb feckwit. 

Looking forward to France tearing this shower a new one,  see if the twat looks so smug then

I’m annoyed, but southgate is talking about players with tournament experience and a club atmosphere. Can you argue with the results at the major tournaments?
