Maddison

Recommended Posts

We all know he shouldn't have gone to Qatar, that was a complete waste of time just to appease certain quarters of the media.

It would have been far better for him, the Club and the supporters to see a specialist back then rather than lose valuable time on a mission where he was never going to be selected to play.

I don't know... I think the experience of being part of the squad for the biggest tournament in the world is huge for him.

Now the next tournament wont be his first and he knows what to expect.

I think we are in desperate need of Maddison to return to our team due to such poor performances without him.

We therefore are selfishly taking any snippet of his injury news and creating threads about his whereabouts. :dunno:

Yet he was pictured training with the England squad and on the bench for the last few games during world cup.

But when he gets back to Leicester, he's not available with no timeline and very little details given

All whilst his odds are shortening at the bookies to leave Leicester...

He wanted to leave in the summer and I believe we are blocking his move in the January transfer window!

We can't afford to let him go especially with our injuries but we are also in dire need of cash and to strengthen our squad in all areas.

No, that's it in a nutshell. Not just because of the injury situation but because of what he does for us. He could be the difference that keeps us up. Seriously. I don't normally like to pin everything on one player but I make an exception here. Without him, we're a pretty (less than) ordinary team and, imho, a serious contender for relegation.

I think the issue with Maddison is more psychological rather than physical - looks like all the assessments suggest there isn't a major issue, but he's had significant injuries before so maybe doesn't want to risk things unless he's 100% sure.

Hopefully he gets his confidence back and in training next week.

I think he will be gone in summer, he's many levels above us nowadays, he's one of the few players who haven't regressed although I still feel like he has more progress in the tank, and could have been even better today if we had not had 2 years of club regression surrounding him.
I genuinely cannot see a reason why he would want to stay here in Summer, bar a new manager coming in and blowing him away with exciting new football and a proper plan for him. Even then, a top 6 club will make a bid in summer regardless I would assume.

No doubt he compared his pay cheque to almost all the other England squad members ,who no doubt told him if he wants to earn the big money he has to leave impecunious LCFC. He has given us some good years but at 26 , he has to make the move now. Your career is over before you know it.

I think the sad fact is that we as a club are not now in any sort of position to keep the brilliant Madders, we have regressed so far both in terms of playing standards and finances that we are back to needing to sell our best and recruit younger potential, much as we did with Maddison himself.

He will certainly go in the summer if Rodgers is still here as if he is, we will almost certainly be a Championship side again.

Unfortunately we are not now as attractive an option as we were back in 2018 so attracting and signing hidden gems will be all the more difficult.

Many of us predicted this decline when the true nature of Rodgers' inability to make the best of his players/poor signings became clear to those of us not deceived by his and the sycophantic media/ex players BS.

(This classic media denial reminds me greatly of the incredible damage done and being done to the ordinary people of this country by brexit- the subject which must not be spoken of)!

Add to this the unfortunate timing of the investment in infrastructure at a time King Power lost business, the subsequent lack of squad investment and the over payment of (at best) mediocre squad players then you have a perfect recipe for decline.

It is l suppose the law of diminishing returns- good players leave we are not winning and not seen as a viable option for players or managers and so decine further.

We've had a good run in the prem and it may well be ending for a while.

I agree with all of that but I believe the players themselves need to find the backbone to get us through this season and avoid relegation. I think they are good enough to do that. If that means ignoring Rodgers then so be it. He is a dead man walking , waiting for his pay off.

That's just weight of money placed shorting the odd, nothing to do with inside knowledge.

What is going on with him? Its a blooming strange situation. An injury no-one seems to be able to fix yet he goes to the WC?????.

Not hard to understand...

I believe Southgate-Maddison-Rodgers, knew it was a small gamble, and he wasn't likely to play. I always felt that Maddison would miss actually WC participation and another major part of this PL season....

It is all suspiciously quiet regarding Maddison. Not a lot happening on Instagram with him either and seems to keeping a low profile. If a return was around the corner i think we would see posts about him being on the treadmill keeping fit. Cynic in me says that either the injury is worse than feared, or the pressure is being put on for a move.

Another crock! how come we keep signing these crocks and then forking out a fortune to try and put them right before sending them on to another club? Maddison might be a brilliant player but we'd be better off signing 3 or 4 decent strong lads on a quarter the wages, at least we'd always be able to field a fit team.

I don't buy into him not playing to save himself for a move. As much as BR deserves criticism, he clearly has a close relationship with Maddison, who's credited him with rebuilding his game.

He's been brilliant for us in the past 12 months, just hope he's back in training next week.

It's not that - he isn't going anywhere this month. I worry that the injury is worse than we thought. though...

Surely a bonafide injury would have given Southgate the perfect excuse not to pick him?

On the other hand including him in the England squad might increase his transfer value for us?

I've no idea what is going on, other than we are currently shite, and are really missing Maddison!
