Maddison

100% agree with your point on Madders, however, let’s not pretend the players don’t share as much blame as BR and the Board.

Fcuking awful.

The development of this situation didn't start with the players. The squad isn't radically that different from the one that won the Cup.

So, no, I'm not going to concede that the players share equal responsibility with Rodgers and his godawful management/recruitment and the spineless decision-fakers on the board.

I'm not surprised they've lost heart. This is entirely a confidence and self-belief issue for most of them. They've been let down by two seasons of buffoonery.

But Tielemans and Soumaré can do one as far as I'm concerned.

Please point out where i said I wanted him injured? I would much rather Maddison got his head down, worked hard and put in the team performance of his life against Liverpool. However, i don't see it and predict we will get the same arguing with the ref / falling over outside the box - poor corners and free kicks. Would love him to prove me wrong.

All i was doing was holding his performances to account. When you do this, the comebacks (which are fair) are always about him being our best player and carrying the team. He has not carried the team this year and has been poor, but people don't want to hear this, because he is our star asset. Our brief spell before the wold cup saw the whole team raise their game and us actually keep some clean sheets. It was not only down to Maddison but he was a contributor. But he has come back from that World Cup and barely put in a performance, and topped this off with some selfish and very, very costly moments where we needed him to show far more maturity.

I think he's actually been a bit unfairly criticised for his interview, and it was interesting to hear of Radio 5 this morning the presenters defending him on his behalf. The issue is the choice of words (not hungry enough) are Brendanisms and largely meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Not 'hungry enough' is up there with 'lacked intensity'.

You weren't the poster I was alluding to. Someone did state that  they hoped he'd get injured so's they wouldn't have to watch him again. So why you felt I was alluding to you is for you to clarify. Generally, I find your posts intelligent and interesting.

Ok sorry. Wanting him injured is nonsensical. Lots of heated replies flying around. I really would like to think Madders has a few big performances left in him for us. I don't want it to end this way.

He has one big performance left in him for us. It'll be the West Ham game when we're already relegated. I'm sure there'll be some more stat padding to come there. Barnes to get in on the act too. You only had to see yesterday to sum up the mettle of this team. The goals rolling in as soon as they know the game is gone.

They're overly protected and never deliver when it matters.

Said it last week, Maddison is the midfield Harry Kane, he has genuinely excellent talent, but he hasn't got the mentality to be anywhere near a top team. I don't think his performances and tweets will have enticed any serious side going for actual silverware to go near him.

Oh my God we are finished if matt piper is calling you out he's usually toxicly positive

I listened to the game on RL yesterday.

His criticism was non-stop, pretty much all game. He was shocked at the display.

'No fight, no passion, we look to be on the beach, unfit players, no midfield, get Soumare off', etc etc.

He was not at all happy.

“It is tough. No easy game in the Premier League - it is a cliche but so true.”

Disagree, Fulham had a nice easy game yesterday. They would have turned up expecting a battle, must have been pissing themselves at half time.

...what do you call our game against Fulham on Monday!!!

Guest Mee-9

Something telling yesterday that hasn't been spoken about too much.

Dean Smith after the Everton game said Madders is the penalty taker once Iheanacho comes off the pitch. Costs us 3 valuable points.

Well why did Vardy take the first penalty and miss yesterday? It's clear that whatever Dean Smith said last week was bullshit and a complete lie, and it shows that there was probably this ego issue regarding Maddison taking the penalty off Tielemans was probably right as many of us said last week.

Shocking. Taking the fans for mugs, and it's ultimately us who suffer.

I think you’re looking for something what isn’t there, you may have a point if he scored against Everton  and was taken off it yesterday.

Probably because of how shit his penalty was that they had to change the taker? Generally what happens in a team that doesnt have a penalty specialist in it. Most likely scenario

Well, not necessarily is it? After Madder’s awful effort against Everton, it’s quite reasonable that he was taken off them. Vards then bloody misses one so Madders has the next one again. Doesn’t mean any dishonesty has occurred, even if it was a bizarre decision to not have Vards take the peno against Everton.

Smith said they hadn't discussed it at all last week.

So its odd that the taker would change without any further discussion

Ffs who is this tw@t gurinder?

I've had to turn it off twice when she's been on in the past. Sounds pissed up and clueless (like most callers to that show are to be honest)

She isn't a proper fan. Don't like saying that about anyone, but she knows she's embarrassing and is just there to be ridiculed. One of them that doesn't actually give a shit but stirs up fake emotion. There's a lot of YouTubers like that too.

She must be. Wouldn't put it past Talksport paying her to call in and be as stupid as fvck.
