Horrible thought..We might be playing with

Maddison,Soumare,Tielemans,Ndidi,Tete,& Amartey in the Championship..

Madders is gone, hes like a rat of a sinking ship, same with Tielemans already gone, left mentally about 2 years ago.

Soumare, Ndidi and Amartey might be alright in the Championship with the right manager.

Tete appears to to be the worst Brazilian in the world, he can go back to whence he came.

It wasn't so long ago that Ndidi was statistically the best DM in the league. Does he just not need a move and a fresh start, or has he really turned to shit?

Have you watched him play lately?

Like most of the team, his confidence is completely shot and he's making rushed, panicked decisions.

Most of it started when Rodgers changed the shape. At Ndidi's absolute best he was purely a ball winner and he had Madders and Tielemans either side of him. They were very much Left and Right 8s.

Tielemans dropped down on the right, would pick up the ball from the defence and advance the ball up the right in neat triangles with Perez and Ricardo. Madders did the same thing on the left with Barnes and Chilwell/JJ.

Ndidi never really needed to receive the ball much at all let alone be relied upon to change it.

He then went through a period of inconsistent fitness and picked up a bunch of injuries and so Rodgers started tinkering, the changes invariably involved Maddison going further forward and Tielemans dropping even deeper to be one of two CDMs. By the time Ndidi got back in to the team with any kind of consistency (if that's ever really happened, he has had abysmal luck with injuries) he was being expected to actually get on the ball and play it out from the back.

He's awful at this and got really found out. It put more strain on the centre backs who had to play more, it put more strain on Tielemans who was now shouldering nearly all the responsibility to get the ball up the pitch.

The entire shape change changed how we progress the ball up the pitch and the team collectively suffered. Ndidi is one of the most obvious in that because it was so easy for the opposition to target him and get the ball back off him from mistakes.

Then once his confidence went his ball winning went too. He started giving up silly fouls, penalties, just generally being a bombscare.

I'm not sure he needs a move so much as just a manager that understands his limitations and can give him a proper reset. But either way the team will have to carry him in the build up.

Plus his undisclosed personal problem.

I’ll say this quietly because apparently nothing has changed in the game over the years and some people on here get a bit worked up if you say it has

anyway, wilf was a great DM but dreadful receiving and passing the ball quickly - the game has developed so that your DM needs to be able to take passes from the CB/ keeper and move it on quickly and with purpose. Wilf simply can’t be trusted to do this and teams have identified this and lay traps for him.   This has knocked his confidence completely so that even the destructive part is game is less effective too.

he’s also had some personal issues which won’t have helped his mental state

The "setting traps" you've mentioned above isn't just about his passing ability anymore. Number of handballs he's given away in the box, I'm convinced it's targeted at this point.

Wrecked by injuries, then confidence and tactics. A genuinely sad decline. For nearly four years he was outstanding at his role. Never a brilliant footballer but no better screen for a defence. Honestly think Maguire got his reputation because Ndidi's quality allowed him to showcase his eye catching runs.

Horrible to see his performances and fans turning against him. Hope he can rediscover his ability and have a good career.

If it wasn't for Maddison we would have been relegated last season. He's clearly doing his best to keep us up this season but he's surrounded by poor players. Appreciate him for the little time he has left here.

He performed to get a place in the World Cup since then he’s not really been bothered imo

Always thought he was overrated.Don’t get me wrong,I like the bloke. He’s had some really good games but not enough imo.Never really had a concrete offer from any other club.
