Yeah I did think Faes got caught under the ball. Awful positioning from him and Thomas.

Still needs to be loaned out and get 90 mins week in week out at a level where he can improve as well develop the physical aspect of his games.

 

He's been made to stay here and poor lad is either hung out to dry and first choice with no cover, or he gets no game time lol

Barnes never helps the fullback. If you want to play wide in the modern game you need to track back. He just doesn’t do it.

Why I always post about being more ruthless as a club and force moves.
 

I say it every Summer but look at other clubs saying to the dross that they have no future, accept a loan with a contribution to the wages and free up a squad space.

 

Tonight has made me angry with Top/board as much as Brendan….our squad surely in the worst 5 in the league if look at balance.

Usually gets isolated most games with Barnes rarely tracking back

 

Even worse tonight as Barnes is being asked to press with Daka and Newcastle are getting plenty of 2 v 1 opportunities against Thomas with Almiron and Tripper

 

Then Thomas is just really struggling to stand them up / deal with them even in a 1 v 1

 

If Rodgers wants to persist with Barnes pressing with Daka then we need to hook Perez for Mendy and get Wilf to move over to help out Thomas or whoever is at left back because the 2v1s will continue unless he changes it

Other who take care of Trippier?

 

Thomas is having to try and deal with Almiron and there is no one else in the area at all that could try and cover Trippier
