Nonsensical decision. If Anderson has a modest summer then you say maybe it is time then, or he may go himself. But you don't retire someone after one match in a symbolic gesture.

Woakes won't go to Oz. England will take a pace attack. Wood, Atkinson (26 is not old), Archer, Potts, Tongue, Stone, Carse, Mahmood etc are all in the frame.

Anderson has rarely done well in Australia. 

England have recognised that tall, quick pace bowlers is the way to go.

Which I understand but it makes a mockery of saying we need Anderson to prepare bowls for the Ashes and than play Woakes, who been poor outside of England.

Anderson isn't just being being used to prepare England for the next Ashes. His overall knowledge is gold dust. 

Personally, I'm not too concerned about England's batting, Bazball has been tailored to a degree & hopefully this approach is better down under, on quicker, bouncy tracks.

The Windies are a fairly poor outfit as you say, but their bowling attack isn't too bad. Their batting was pinpointed as the problem, but looked ok yesterday ! 

It's all about opinions though.

Lost track of how many times this England team can be in total control and then give away cheap wickets and give the opposition a glimmer of hope.

 

Stokes throw any his wicket needlessly to often for some who is a talented batsman.
