Brilliant stuff. Dirty air for Lewis slowed down the charge. Max fortunate to get DRS on the penultimate lap being behind Mick.

Super stuff to cling on to the victory though. Great driving and entertainment. Tense!

It's mad how much a title challenge makes these races enthralling cause if that was last year we'd all be slagging it lol

He was pointing off to the right at the start and then clearly makes a swerve to the left and takes Lewis into the pitlane exit before backing off on the first corner.

Regardless, Lewis will have him with a few laps to go.

He'll either have him, or Max will take them both out.  That's how it goes down from here.

If Red Bull don't win both championships from here its a bottlejob of the highest order. Better car for most of the season, better reliability, Merc having more grid drops to contend with, 2 home races coming up for them too

Imagine how far ahead they’d be without Hamilton and Bottas crashing into them

Not sure if you can class that as a great strategy from RB or a poor one from MB.

Despite Hamilton overtaking Verstappen at the start as soon as RB pulled the trigger with the first pit stop they were chasing the race.  Left Hamilton with far too much to do.

Maybe with hindsight MB should have gone for a 2 stop.  Generally the MB strategy team this year has been comfortably second best.  Red Bull have tightened up in all areas.

Unless MB bring some further upgrades this is Red Bulls in the bag now.

Likelihood is also Lewis will have to take another power unit at some point. Apparently.

True, I think they are toast and the mood music is they know it.  Hamilton is keeping them in a race they don't really belong in this season.

Hence treating Bottas as the guinea pig for next year.

That was a great race, you can’t get any closer than both championship contenders within a second at the end of 56 laps, thought max was lucky with the drs but you never know if something like that hasn’t been already spotted by the engineers behind the scenes. Looking more like the power advantage that Mercedes’ have enjoyed over this era is coming to an end.

It's far too early to say that.

Verstappen was about 30 points and a whole race ahead of Hamilton at one point then he him an Hamilton had a coming together, then Bottas took him out the track from nowhere. If Hamilton wins the next race then he's back within one race of Verstappen, even if it's a 1-2.

It wouldn't have mattered what Merc did. Verstappen had the pace advantage and was right behind him from the start.

And Hamilton two-stopped also didn't he? Just offset later than Verstappen.
