Maddison injury update?

Recommended Posts

With no Maddison, I’d go to a classic 4-3-3.

Kasper

Castagne

Evans

Soyuncu

Thomas

Tielemans

Ndidi

Tavares

Pereira

Vardy

Barnes

We don’t have enough creativity in the team with Hamza or Papy replacing Maddison. Give Tavares a chance.

Exactly what I'd do... however I think Brendan will go 4 3 3 with a more rigid midfield having Hamza in instead of Tavares unfortunately

I think we'll be fine tomorrow anyway, it's more Sunday I'm less confident about...losing that creativity ... hopefully arsenal will go to extra time tonight, with pens and add to that the travelling might be a bit f**ked come sunday

I'm actually the opposite, I think we can do Arsenal by being solid and catching them on the counter attack with Barnes/Vardy. Tomorrow will require more creativity I reckon.

Correct! @Muzzy_Larsson said a while ago he reckons he will end up with us. He's gone right off the boil this last year but that has also coincided with him refusing new deals isn't it?

Yeah that's abut the size of it. It's a bit of both, I think he's frusrated at his lack of first team chances and wants out as a result. Don't blame him, I wouldn't have wanted to work under Lennon every day and regress.

That said, the first team games he has played since his debut he's looked way off being ready to play professional football.

I see what you mean, makes sense... I just feel against Prague we'll be 2-0 up at half time without many issues with whatever formation we start

I feel against Arsenal a change in formation will affect us more..  That being said we've managed to scrape our way through to now, so I'm sure Rodgers will have a plan

No top 4 now I’m afraid.

people said that when Vardy was injured.

Then they said it when Ndidi was injured

Then when Fofana was and ricardo and Castange.

And when Maddison was out previously.

Nothing like an over reaction.

I don't remember people saying that at all.  I think you just made it up but perhaps you should save the 'I told you so' posts until we've actually achieved it.

if we retain the same shape then i expect he will alternate ayo, kel and under as a ten.  but these guys will not drop as deep as madders does so we simply cant keep the same structure. these guys are more link up players than a true creative ten like madders is.  tbh, we haven't seen if under is able to play this role - we might tomorrow for a period.

we need ayo fit asap - he has looked ok in between the lines high up when given the chance. its certainly more suited to him than leading the line!  kel also likes to link play by dropping into that space.  lets see how it goes before committing hari kari ……...

the bigger issue for us that we are losing another first team starter at a time when we simply cant afford to  ……………..

you for real? Do you want me to go back through posts? The doom and gloom that has been around out injuries this season has been off the scale.

I don't remember anyone ever conceding top four (until now) and that's exactly what you said was happening after each injury.

It wasn't.  You're just attributing something that didn't happen to "people" for dramatic affect.  I'm not looking for a row with you , you've just stumbled across one of my many irritants that's all.

I’m not yet resigned to Madders being out for a few weeks. Yea there is with Doctor seeing specialists in London but if he doesn’t require surgery I’m not sure rest will make a massive difference? It may just be here’s some cortisone and a needle and off you go? My fear is that his condition may ruin his career. Does anybody know about his previous hip injury and if he had an operation or what treatment he had?

I think it's more than that though.  I forget the stat exactly but he has been averaging a goal or assist per game for about 10 games now.

last summer i believe he had surgery.  its a big concern that his discomfort has returned within six months…. the fact he is having a second opinion isn't great imo. if the first diagnosis was positive then why would you want a second opinion ??  the first assessment was either not great or uncertain.  i assume he had an injection before he played second half at everton in july. that lasted about twenty five mins before he was unable to run !

i'm worried and i wouldn't take too much notice of what Brendan has to say ….  going back to cags needing an op (he didn't), timmy being out for a few weeks (became six), JJ looking like he might be ok (out for nine months) ……….. are there any more ???

Well this is crappy news. Hope he's okay. Impact our top 4 chances or not, he's had an excellent season and seems so happy on the pitch at the moment.

Not sure why people are suggesting we'd go 3 at the back again - that was due to Ndidi being out...

I am with those suggesting we try and get Under in the team

Losing Maddison means we lose that midfield spark

I am not sure if he can, or how he would operate centrally but I really think we need a player like him with some genuine trickery to make things happen

I don't think we have seen the best of him because he is trying to score a hattrick every limited chance he gets. If he is given a run of games, I think he would settle down and really help us fill that void of flair we are losing from Maddison

I think we know exactly what Rodgers will do though... Perez.

At the risk of causing an issue, I have seen posts this season claiming Top 4 was gone. It may or may not have been after injuries, but I've seen it.

I've not heard anything, who is it?

Haha on a side note Dembele at Celtic is related to Kolo Toure and I'd be astounded if he doesn't join us in the summer as he's refused a new deal.

...turned 18 this month, open to sign an agreement with an overseas club at the moment as well!!!

Would be a bit of a no brainer to pick him up as he has stalled at Celtic and players coming through have surpassed him. His physical development is the case and if that is going to be something that can be predicted as a non issue down the line, then we need to do it.

He plays on the right and in a position we need, if we are not going after Ünder, it is an option. He has only played once this season and has been kept on the bench, even with the poor season that Celtic has had.
