Maybe it took them so long to drive from Somerset that when they left Maguire was still decent.

Dominic King for the Daily Mail
This was the 26th point Leicester have squandered from a winning position this season and the draw – the first of Lampard's reign on Merseyside – means Everton will stay out of the bottom three on Thursday night, no matter if Burnley beat Southampton.

It could, of course, have been very different. Everton were horribly off colour in the opening stages and there was no heat in the furnace of the stadium. The home side's play was tepid and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – what a good player he is – could have put Leicester ahead within 21 seconds.

Coleman rescued Everton with a fabulous tackle but you could not say they hadn't been warned. That early jab should have jolted their system but they failed to rouse themselves and soon enough they were behind, as Leicester waltzed forward and sliced them open.

Ricardo Pereira was at the heart of it all, swapping passes with Youri Tielemans before he ushered James Maddison into the area; the midfielder was under pressure and cut the ball back, his cross evading Kelechi Ihenacho but finding Barnes at the back post, who duly converted.

Andy Hunter for The Guardian
Leicester started with a freedom and confidence that Everton’s predicament does not allow, although were ultimately left to lament dropping more points from a winning position. The early lead helped, of course, along with the seven changes that Brendan Rodgers made from the stoppage-time defeat at Newcastle on Sunday. The Leicester manager replaced his entire back four and recalled James Maddison, Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho. Lampard was forced into his attacking switch.

Chris Bascombe for the Telegraph
Indeed, the home side began like they had spent the last 24 hours analysing Manchester United videos. It was an exhibition in granting an opponent time and space. Leicester took advantage in such a way to make their league position bewildering. In truth, they would most likely be in the race for Champions League places but for their injury issues, the return of Fofana especially influential in Leicester starting to resemble the side which just missed out on the top four in successive seasons.

Rodgers’ vision manifested itself with Leicester’s attractive patterns, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and James Maddison especially prominent whenever Everton stood off.

Paul Joyce for The Times
Everton had been “off the pace” in the opening half, Lampard admitted, and Leicester will rue not being able to capitalise further. The sight of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scampering down the middle in the opening minute, Coleman was forced into a last-ditch tackle, was a warning that went unheeded.

Soon after, Ricardo Pereira swapped passes with Youri Tielemans and scuttled forward before finding James Maddison. A cut-back resulted in Kelechi Iheanacho’s shot being blocked by Mina, but the ricochet squirted to the lurking Harvey Barnes, who pounced.

Goodison has provided fertile ground for Everton under Lampard but such an early concession left the home gallery fractious, with too many passes going sideways and backwards.

There was no one in blue who performed with the same fluidity and enterprise as either Dewsbury-Hall or Maddison, who stung the palms of Pickford from distance, but Leicester’s intent continued to lack a final flourish.

Forest fans singing about Steve cooper and hating Leicester at Fulham tonight. They don’t care about us though

They're heating up for us to be relevant to them again.

The best thing we can do is not bother with their games next season. 25k at home, 400 away. Really treat it poorly. That would be hilarious.

Edit - not as hilarious as us taking their best player before they come up though.

Also consists of multiple loan players - two of which are strikers. They’d need some major work for the top flight. Steve Cook, first choice CB

They're going to do it aren't they. Bournemouth have totally bottled it.

Clawing a 3 goal deficit back in the last 15 minutes could give Bournemouth a valuable shot in the arm.

3 points ahead ,same GD ,going to be close.

Would love forest to stay in the Play offs and lose to luton 🤞😄

Let's be honest, that record stretching back to 1998 has been massively helped by the fact we were utter shite for over 15 years and didn't qualify for any European competition lol

It's almost like saying we haven't lost a game in League One since 2009.

It does say how many games though, so it’s not a ridiculously padded stat.

I want them promoted, trying to create false rivalries with teams like spurs is so desperate.

It's still impressive when you consider some of the teams that have been down here - Porto, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla all failed to win at our place.
