The "do they mean us?" thread pt 3

Guardian
Leicester’s rot continues. Winless; rooted to the bottom; six straight defeats. Brendan Rodgers is perhaps hanging on by a thread. Leicester’s inability to hold on to a lead – given to them by Youri Tielemans’ retaken penalty – will be particularly galling.

Even having fallen behind James Maddison equalised before the first half was done. But thereafter they capitulated. This season alone they have dropped 11 points from winning positions.

Ward has conceded 22 in just seven matches, while the delayed debut of Wout Faes, the club’s only outfield summer signing, could hardly have gone worse.

Mail
If you wanted a team to play against to break your goal-scoring duck then Leicester City would probably be your first choice at present. When Son took the field on 59minutes with Tottenham 3-2 ahead, you suspected that his run of unfortunate form might soon be coming to a swift end.

Leicester, bottom of the table on a point, had already demonstrated the kind of defending up that would have given hope to your average Sunday League forward, let alone a player of Son's quality. Sure enough, he would find them in generous mood.

Telegraph
Eventually it turned into another big defeat for Brendan Rodgers, his side still without a win, as the international week begins and the traditional sacking season for struggling managers resumes. He may not be in charge for the visit of Nottingham Forest on October 3.

The Leicester manager seemed resigned to his fate afterwards, responding to questions about his likely longevity with a resigned, “I’m not daft – I know football.” He tried to emphasise what had gone well for his side and indeed there was some fight shown, but something in Rodgers’ manner suggested that he knew the curtain would fall soon. The club’s transfer window atrophy, and the promotion of Danny Ward, a first-choice goalkeeper who is clearly struggling, have just been too much.

Hard to believe by the end, but Leicester had more of the possession and more of the shots on target. It was just in defence where the gaps kept appearing, especially as they chased the game. There was a good performance from the Belgian debutant Wout Faes at centre-back, the only major signing of the last window, and yet they could not prevent themselves extending an invitation to shoot. The punishment was severe from Son.

Derby are a small tinpot club. The only reason they get mentioned is because of their rivalry with Notts Forest. They're hanging on the coat tails of their bigger brother.

They have nothing over us these days. Simply another small club like Huddersfield or Preston who happened to win the league back in the Viking times.

Some seriously bitter ramblings. Always thought of Derby as being far less bothered about us than their best friends Forest, but seems we have a permanent place in their heads as well.

Well we’ve taken the piss in the last 20 years against them.

Played 22

Won 11  55%

Drew 6   30%

Lost 3   15%

They’re trying to convince a whole generation that have witnessed nothing but inferiority that they are superior. League one won’t humble some of their middle aged fans they are completely deluded.

Quite excellent piece by Daniel Storey in inews. Highly recommended & hard to argue with

“there is no obvious case for keeping him in charge. Leicester are bottom of the table, winless and have conceded more goals in their first seven matches than any other top-flight team since 1965. It would be better for everyone if this relationship ended now”

In all seriousness, I’ve been saying this ages. I’m sick of all the Sky-sponsored transfer circus. I’d have teams just announce their square for that season in one big hit.
