I get the feeling we'll only know the reason he's gone from the Scottish Van Dyke to not even on the bench in a defensive crisis in about 5 years in someone's biography. The guy's career has blackholed.

I know the name Filip Benkovic sounds like he's from Inverness but he's actually Croatian.

He’s got to give the lad a chance under these circumstances ffs he may even prove Rodgers wrong get the lad in the squad give him a chance got to be far better than Vestergaard !!

If he can’t even get on the bench during an injury crisis it says everything about his situation at the club.

Struggled to get going at Bristol City, really struggled to even play at Cardiff and when he did finally play he was horrendous, Leuven weren’t interested in using him, and he has legs made of cardboard.

If he isn’t showing Brendan anything to deserve a chance at even getting on the bench or playing in a cup game then there is no reason to think he should be playing for us at anytime.

I thought Rodgers was semi singing his praises a couple of months ago? As someone has asked, has he been getting games for the under 23s?

Cardiff loan was pretty much to provide cover as they let Flint go out on loan and they already had a first choice pairing, so I don't think you can read that much in to that spell. Leuven, didn't King pretty much say the manager wasn't overly keen on playing people just due to a Leicester connection? Also believe Bristol City were fond of him and were keen on possibly keeping him.

Think Southampton had our pants down on Vesty big time !

We don't know what the contract situation is. Maybe that he's signed on very favourable terms and structured in a way that's relatively cheap for an international footballer. He looked OK playing in the back 4 of a team that got to the euro semi-final. Was he really that bad at Anfield the other night? He's probably decent value for a squad player with the right attitude that can temporarily step up during an injury crisis.

Big money will be spent in the summer on a top centre back to play alongside Lil' Wes, you'd think, especially considering the unreliability of Evans and the on-going contract situation with Cags. Until then it's a case of make do.

Apart from one goal being almost entirely avoidable had he woke up and made any kind of challenge…. Other than that he was OK.

How low are our defensive standards getting when being at fault for just one goal in a 1/3rd of a game is an OK performance!?

I can only think he’s totally broken and that loan to Celtic did him more lasting damage that was originally made public.

His contract expires at the end of the 22/23 season, so no doubt he’ll be lost to obscurity with the likes of Crnick, Wesolowski, Mattock, Kaebi, Kaptuska …… just avoid signing players with a “K” in their name.
