Quite the turnaround from someone who was highly rated as a youngster attracting interest from elite clubs to looking like a potential superstar at Celtic to being okay at Bristol City and his form falling of a cliff at Cardiff and Leuven. 

 

It's hard to work out the story here.

Mistake from us is we should have sent him back to Celtic for a second season on loan. At least he was loved there and playing regular football..

 

His confidence has taken a shattering which is a shame personally as if he could play to his ability, we wouldn't need to be looking at another CB

He’s the right footed 6ft4 monster we need to cover Evans when he’s injured but for whatever reason he’s not played for about a year. Would save us some money if he came good but seems to have fallen away completely. Real mystery.

But his ankle/Achilles injuries began to flair up when playing on the plastic pitches some teams have.

I really think there is a player in there somewhere, he was fantastic in the Europa League for Celtic. Would be willing to take a gamble on him as 4th choice centreback for the season if we signed someone like Gary Cahill on a free for insurance on top of that. Especially if that meant more money for a RW.

I’m inclined to give him a go. Early league cup rounds and then if he’s not up to it a loan to Championship or Celtic. He’s performed at a decent level before so there’s something in there.

At the moment he would be valued at virtually nothing , a couple of decent games and he is worth money . Then it would promote interest in the January window. Play him in the Caribou cup games which is our least important trophy.

Really good point actually...our players are top pedigree. Or at least other teams will think that coz of our track record in the transfer market.

If we were in for a Ajax player I'd think.. must be good ajax are good 👍we should cash in on.our transfer success

Funny how things turn out, Cags was rotting in the U23’s and people saying get rid and this guy was playing for Celtic and being tipped to be the next VVD and get him back off loan . Clearly something isn’t working just hope he can turn it around .

It is odd how that turned out. Very similar to Fofana and Saliba, as well.

 

I hope it works out for Benkovic. If he can stay injury-free for a while, there could still be hope for him.

why the hell would Gary Cahill sign to be 5th choice? We would have struggled to convince him to join as 4th IMO

His form did not fall off a cliff @ Leuven .. The Manager was pissed that he wasn't consulted on him & King coming in & refused to play him.

He was pretty decent today I thought. Looks like he’s beefed up a bit too. 
 

@Chocolate Teapot mentioned the other day that he’s supposedly doing well and is super fit. Think it showed today, onwards and upwards for him and we might just not need to go out and buy that extra CB for cover.
