Where to from here?

Recommended Posts

Where to from here? The 'big clubs' have been thwarted in their attempt to hijack our game.and further exploit it out of pure financial greed. Yet, even though their attempted coup has been defeated (and the real fans of the beautiful game should take all of the credit for that) they'll continue to flex their muscles within the cosy confines of UEFA. The recent changes to the CL format, which include the negative impact of blatantly unfair coefficients on fair play are, in effect, just a watered down version of the Super League. With most of the football world united in outrage, now would seem to be the perfect opportunity for UEFA to show some real backbone and come up with a revised structure for European football that seeks to level the playing field and create a more attractive and competitive product. Unfortunately, UEFA, with its long history of corruption and greed, is not the 'good guy'.in all this. For better or worse we seem to have reached a critical watershed moment. So where to from here? Looking into your own crystal ball where do you think our game will go from here? And, if you were elected European football supremo what changes would you make to improve the product moving forward?

What's wrong with he current Champions League and Europa League? You currently get into those competitions on merit. I can't understand what needs fixing about it

Champions League isn't just for Champions. It degrades the cups and teams only care about the CL places. And it concentrates money in about six teams who can, will and have threatened the rest of the league with their power.

The new champions league reforms are a joke in all honesty, the ESL talk has taken a lot of the attention away from that but again the latest reforms are a result of pandering to these exact type of clubs.

I know. theres nothing wrong with the way things are at the moment.

UEFA bent over backwards to make these changes in favour of the 12 "Super League" sides but they still wanted more. They should reverse their reform decision and leave things the way they are. Leave it so that the likes of Leicester & Atalanta (I'm struggling to even name any more teams that are currently threatening the dominance of the status quo - that's just how petty the 12 are!) Can still occasionally dream of a decent European Cup run
