Brendan Rodgers

Recommended Posts

I don't believe that Villa tweet. I know they're daft but I genuinely can't believe anyone in their right mind would pay any compensation for BR when in two games time they'll be able to pick him up for nothing.

Unless of course that's why they are sounding him out now as they know full well he'll be a free agent soon.

Top is just sharpening the axe.

He's not managed to convince his CFO to sanction any money for transfer funds this summer I highly doubt he's going to convince them to part with such a huge amount of money for a payoff either.

I'm resigned to the fact that Rodgers will be in charge for as long as humanly possible and will only go when relegation looks like a real possibility. Even then it might be too late.

The finance department runs the show now and they'll need months and months of forecasting and cost benefit analysis before they decide to agree.

What are you talking about, Top is the Chairman, he is on the board! He will be signing off the decisons alongside the CEO, CFO and any other other NED's or execs on the board. The process of how decisions are made doesnt really change whether a business is £10m in tuenover or £500m - normally is the number of people on the board in a governance position to make those decisons. What business are you comparing LCFC to? FWIW the business I work for, turnover is about £40m

Correct - major decisions such as manager contract are advised by the directors, approved/rejected by the chairman.

It's Top's club. He'll devolve decision making in specialist or tactical areas, but strategy and major business decisions are his to make the final call.

Aston Villa have sounded out Brendan Rodgers about a move to Villa Park. Looks like the clock is seriously ticking on ‘Stevie G’. #AVFC #LCFC

Can you imagine us becoming involved in a game of chicken with villa's board and rodger's agent.

of course if we negotiate a severance deal then, as an example,  it would have a guaranteed amount (say six months wages) and then we'd pay his monthly wage until he got a new job (with a limit of a further 12/18 months).

if villa were to come in and ask about his availability then we could pay pretty much nothing and potentially get a compensation fee - but no way would his agent allow that to happen at the moment.  but if villa are in a hurry then our board may decide to stick it out and play that game of chicken.  i think the stakes are so high that they would consider it worth it for a month or so.

i hope any targets we have to replace dont go cool in the interim ......

Heard he's now been given until the Man Utd game. Stockport game is irrelevant.

So Chelsea away and Man Utd home are his final chances.

I just heard that Emilia Clarke likes my posts so much she's taking the next flight from Hollywood for a month of unbridled lust..... Probably equally as true bud... Sadly... No.... tragically..😭

Fit as all hell as Denaerys - strangely not so much as Emilia Clarke

Well, it would certainly be constructive as far as the club's future is concerned.  But I do know what you mean and that's what I figured.  Just wasn't sure what U.K. laws were like on that score.

Can't fundamentally change his role without agreement, and can't suddenly demote without good reason - IE a 'performance improvement' plan, structured assessment and feedback, disciplinary procedure.

I've been wondering how the reality of football club business stacks up in HR terms. Obviously they have to follow the law, but it's definitely a special case industry and has certain conventions all its own.

Apologies if posted before.  But very apposite read.

I mean this is so bitter it's nauseating.

But this line is definitely pertinent:

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT RODGERS IS ONLY A GOOD COACH WHEN THE GOING IS GOOD.

8/13 to be next manager sacked.

someone somewhere has thrown some money that way.

I think he gets until Utd at least - which makes bringing anyone in this window a really odd scenario. Manager could be gone the next day!

The charge of constructive dismissal means  your boss changes you duties to something derisery which is to force you out.

Rodgers, for me, is a coach that wants class. He wants his teams to look nice, zip the ball around, dominate the possession stats and eventually score lovely goals.

He's not interested in the dirty side of the game- the boring, defensive discipline, putting bodies in the line, chucking the ball long if required, having physical players. Even a football purist like Guardiola realises you need steel and a bastard in the team.

It's why we get weary of watching Rodgers set up his team to play the way he wants them complains they didn't do what he doesn't want. Every week we are passive and lack aggression according to him yet he believes in that approach.

This is it. This is what frustrates the hell out of me about him. We are so weak at the basics, we might as well not show up some times. Its not all injuries, all the time. Its organisation, determination and professionalism in our approach which leads to us losing/drawing when we really shouldnt.

The transfer window is always a difficult period and in the main it’s normally been very good for this club. This summer has been a challenge, there is absolutely no doubt about that. It creates doubt, raises questions around stability and also around the ambition of the team going forward.”

Can you believe he’s come out with this post match on Saturday? The clubs ambitious Brendan but you spunked £50 million up the wall on transfers last summer for players who you said were just to “cover first choice players”. The blokes like Teflon, he won’t anything stick to ruin his reputation.

This is Brendan in full "nothing to do with me" mode to preserve himself and his reputation. Blame everyone else and engineer situations to absolve himself of responsibility.  However, people are increasingly seeing through this as they did at other clubs he's managed.  He's very savvy at grooming and courting the press for his own purposes.

....I believe Rodgers insistence on the way we play is uppermost in the player's minds!!!

That only leads to indecision as you start to play against your instincts. Just watching the deterioration of our players as they battle with a system they do not truly believe in. If you brought Stowell in as the caretaker or anyone else other than Rodgers you would see an uplift in player morale and performance.

I recall in that West Brom game, he (Rodgers) was berating Maddison who was giving as good as he got, Maddison plays his own way and ignores Rodgers to a point. When you see your seasoned Defenders looking across to the bench for answers, you know you have a problem.

If a player like Evans chooses to hoof a ball upfield when other options are available is that Rodgers fault?

He probably simply got bored with playing it backwards and sideways and just wanted a change. There's a chance it was a contender as a 'nearest to being a shot on target' 🤣.

Evans has been round the block and played under Ferguson, he will know how poor Rodgers really is, he must be so frustrated at times.
