Or there's just no more to it until after the Villa game.

Trust me, I'd love to see him sacked this instant but let's not delude ourselves into believing anythings gonna happen between now and Saturday. If they wanted someone new in place for Villa they'd have done it right after Brighton

They never would have had someone new in place for Villa anyway. Would have been Sadler and Stowell running the show.

also said the Dieng deal from OM to Leeds was a sure thing only for Dieng to choose Nice instead and fail his medical there

They got Gnonto instead for a real good price don't think they will be worried at all.

Would rather we look at who is doing well in a lower league, either here, on the continent or perhaps even further afield. Look how they play, how they operate in terms of youth and budgets.

Just no big names please

edit Just to add, it’s time we went back to a club identity and not one borrowed from the current manager

Rodgers wants out. The longer this goes on and if he can't turn it around his stock will plumate and chances of getting any top job will have gone. By giving all the excuses now he is hoping to get the sack and move on quickly. Have the feeling Top will stick with him whatever happens especially with having to pay him 10mill. He maybe happy to go into the Championship to reset the club.

there’s not a prime candidate though. if you were to look at who’s currently performing the best… it would be reading’s boss or nige

no way we’d want the sheff u boss

Then go look on the continent, or go League One, or Brazil, or America, Asia, just no more of the usuals and certainly no big names

We need to build, start fresh, that begins at the manager, nobody turning up with a higher opinion of themselves, we want hungry players, we need a hungry manager

Let's hope it's him. He gave spurs a shed load of stability even if the playing style didn't go down well with the fans.

Let’s just hope it’s the right person, whoever that is. Don’t feel it’s Poch myself. Can’t see him coming. Would be potentially massive if he did.

...the players will hate him, and his regime will not endear him to the players!!!

They will shut down after 6 months and look for a way out. Never seem to be anyone sorry to see him go when he leaves clubs. He needs to re-evaluate his approach to the game, when you are ingrained to do things a certain way, it is hard to change.

To relieve the gloom I'm rereading Muzzy's autobiography.  He loved playing under the O'Neil/ Walford / Robertson management team.

Picking out 3 reasons from the book - 1) All 3  were brilliant in going out of their way to up the confidence of the players, with little words in their ear, arms round shoulders, positive thoughts, etc.  2) O'Neill knew the exact role he wanted from each of his players and it fitted that player's abilities to a T, round pegs for round holes etc, and he integrated those perfectly into the team organisation such that the whole was better than the sum of the parts.  3) O'Neill was a super- intelligent guy who was wise enough to understand that employing simple and obvious remedies to problems during matchplay was usually the best solution; no unnecessary overcomplication.

Looking at those 3 approaches to run a football team makes me think "what a difference from our current management team", and it illutrates just a part of what is wrong, and how it could be different.

To those who haven't seen it, Muzzy's book is an excellent read. :scarf:
