Brendan Rodgers

Well it’s hardly surprising to see that actually, most people were always Rodgers in all along! (Ignoring the polls where a huge majority said they weren’t) :crylaugh:

We’ve won a few games, fantastic. He still bottled top 4 twice, insulted the fans, insulted the owners, blamed everyone else but himself and has dragged a squad that was competing for Europe into lower/mid table mediocrity. Oh and bottled Europe as well actually in that time.

My stance has been the same for well over a year. A few wins won’t change that.

And you are a Leicester City supporter ??????????

It wasn’t just some bad results. It was a number of horrendous results with a lack of confidence, leadership and willingness to take responsibility. The direction of travel was firmly towards relegation. Recent form and results have been good. So of course it’s right to see if that continues. I’m hoping that BR now has belief in this squad and builds on recent form. Earlier BR was too wrapped up in the lack of signings when he should have been concentrating on achieving the best with what we have.

Largely agree but do think there is more nuance in our early season struggles

Its cracking me up how many people on this thread are unwilling to admit they called it wrong....trying to justify their position by what he said...what he did etc.....as far as I can remember he never said anything that bad....just stop trying to make the narrative fit your agenda and close this thread.

Just admit you called it wrong. No-one’s perfect.

I am more than happy to say I was wrong... but only when it's clear that I actually was wrong! You cannot possibly say that I or anyone else who held that position was wrong when we are two points above the drop zone with 14 games played with the quality that we possess?

He's in the process of proving me wrong because the form we have shown in the last seven games is much closer to what this team is capable of. I want to be wrong because that means that Leicester City are doing well. I just want Leicester to win games, and if Rodgers continues to turn around then great!

I’m still really confused as to what he said earlier in the season that was so wrong? It gets brought up on here a lot but I don’t think I’ve seen any direct quotes, besides him saying it was a hot day in October. Can somebody share the links or the quotes?

Sky Sports post match interview.

The quote won’t be exact but it is as very similar.

Generally would like to see the quote.

I feel Rodgers often gets overly scrutinised with some of his words. I've been quite critical of him when I feel it's required, but even when it's just normal quotes in an interview or conference his words will get twisted.

He could say the sky is blue and several won't like it just because it's Rodgers saying it.

Fair enough, he has not yet won or lost in reality. What we are seeing is a movement in a positive direction after weeks of poor results, and if it continues and we finish positively (top half? Higher?) then yes, he has recovered and deserves credit.

The other actions seeming to happen regarding recruitment seem positive too, so happy times, and we judge at the end of the season.

This, such criticism feels excessive and I would suspect comes from a personal dislike of his persona.

We had defensive issues. He got help and bought in a defensive specialist and a CB. Now we're keeping clean sheets.

What's not to like? You can harp on about the past and be miserable or you can enjoy this upward trajectory of ours and revel in it.

I was wanting his head after the awful start -- he was making awful decisions, and I think didn't really care. I actually think he wanted the sack after the poor hand he was dealt over the summer. I was always Rodgers In before that, and have noted that people twist his words all the time on this forum ("He said we can't compete with the big 6!" No, he said we don't have the finances of the Big 6, and can't spend what they do on players, so have to do business differently than them to compete in the League.)

But the fact is, it is a wonder he wasn't sacked at the beginning of the season: Any other manager at any other club would have been. Even Rodgers himself alluded to this fact in post-game interviews!

But he seems to have turned things around, and I will always support the manager when, you know, we are winning games and getting clean sheets. I just hope the World Cup break doesn't hurt us.

The recent upturn is highly creditable but the reality is he’s finally addressing issues he should have addressed two years ago.

It would be bonkers to part with him now but I’m remain afraid he will be equally inflexible the next time our form dips.
