Brendan Rodgers

Recommended Posts

Not a Rodgers bashing post but here are lists of all his signings from his last four clubs for anyone wanting to deep dive into his recruitment and make their own mind up.

The point in this post I guess is to use the evidence thus far to make your mind up as to whether or not you'd back him in the transfer market to undertake the rebuild that is undoubtedly coming.

Here is a breakdown of his signings at each of his previous clubs. I have left out Reading and Watford and all fees are from transfermrkt.

For clarity 'Sales from Rodgers signings' include sales that were made of players he signed even after he'd left the respective club as manager. 'Transfer fees received' are money he brought in from sales in his time as manager at the respective club, whether the players he sold were his signings or not.

I have marked asterixes (*) next to those signings have made long term, decent contributions at the respective clubs and who could have been considered a relative success. I've omitted Swansea from this analysis though as my knowledge isn't deep enough there.

so what we are basically seeing is that the clubs have always recovered less than he has spent on players effectively. even the liverpool ones are sweked as there was the massive coutinho fee to mask some of the resale value.

that's excellent news. something to look forward to then! lol.

Saying that... I wonder if that's the same at most clubs generally... no idea how it compares.

Yeah I had the same observations when I put the post together and also like yourself, have no idea how it compares to other clubs.

Hopefully after this dreadful performance we sack Brendan.

Yeah hopefully been horrific tonight. Can’t hide behind a couple of great goals by Maddison. It’s the performance that is a serious cause for concern.

Whilst I agree with you, Ranieri had a superb result in Sevilla, and got binned the next day.

True, but if they wanted to sack him, they'd have done it by now.

I still maintain that the moment we get knocked out of Europe, he goes. Objective would have been to qualify for Europe next season. The moment that because impossible, he's out.

People were saying this as far back as October, there was a thread about it where somebody was basically laughed at for the fact that they suggested that it might be a problem that we only seemed to be scoring screamers - this was a period in October where Tielemans scored 2 ridiculous goals against United and Brentford, Vardy scored a belter against United and Barnes against Leeds. Even going back to the opening day Vardy scored a goal that almost no other player in the league would have scored.

I think I remember that and I was one of those who laughed, oh how naive I was.

Someone said it was like the randers cup final. We looked like we struggled with the conditions, but we won 3-1.

it was poor but we have just won the tie 7-2 can’t see that as basis for sacking him.

Having said that if we don’t get results against both Leeds and Burnley he may well be in big trouble.

Problem is, if we'd put in that performance against league opposition we'd have been 3-1 down by the half hour

Brendan's eyes in that interview, he knows he's gone, it's just a case of when and saving face, I don't think he will survive until the summer, Puel went in game 27 after losing by a goal to Wolves in Game 23, I think Brendan will go in game 27 after Loss to Burnley, Win v Leeds, Lose Arsenal, Lose Brentford.
