Hamza Choudhury

Literally the only argument for keeping Hamza is that he is club home grown, and it's an unreplaceable in European squad spot. Having KDH step up alleviates that problem to some extent; but truth is, Hamza is on European/Cup duty, and with Soumare in the squad might not even make a league appearance. He needs to go for his career, and shouldn't be kept around just in case we have an unbelievable injury crisis.

Frankly, I think we might be able to afford to let both Hamza and Mendy go at the same time; I just don't see either making anything buy very occasional league appearances.

We are competing on four fronts again this year. Rotation is going to be the key if we are not going fall away due to fatigue towards the back end of the season. If we were to go deep into the cups/EL thats over 20 games. If we play our first choice 11 in EL on a Thursday, then the squad players may well be called into action for the following weekend  or vice versa. That said, i think Midfield is the one area where at present we could afford to let one or two go

At the end of the day, we can register 25 players; fewer for EL. We have two new MF"s we didn't have last season. I just don't think either Hamza or Mendy are gonna get more than scraps.

Is Rodgers going to move away from using specialist DMs then? No way is Wilf going to be available for every match. I think Mendy will play a number of matches this season. Hamza could be loaned out , if his wages can be covered, as long as we can recall if necessary.

I think Mendy will get more game time once fit again as he is first choice back up for Wilf. Hamza has not impressed as DM, he just does not have the positional awareness, and he will be behind Soumare and Praet (assuming he stays) if we want to play a box to box type midfielder

I don't think they'll both go but I think Rodgers will experiment with Soumare as a DM in a double pivot in the Europa league games to assess if he can play as a DM in his preferred system.

I think Hamza going on loan is a good thing. A lot of people say he just isnt good enough but for me when I see him play I just see a complete lack of confidence. Most of us remember his breakthrough season and the tackles of left, right and centre. Sure it was very unrefined but we never see that anymore. I think that comes from a complete lack of confidence in his own abilities not to get a red card for a disgusting tackle. He also has problems on the ball which no one can deny One thing for sure is that he has had too many opportunities at leicester to rectify these problems and he has failed every time. Thats not to say he can't be a good rotation for Ndidi one day. I'm hoping a loan move to newcastle will help him get his confidence and aggression back which made him so highly rated in the first place while also giving him the experience he needs so that he can keep his composure when he is on the ball. There is a footballer somewhere in him but I think his track record and obliterated confidence has made him sub-par the last two years. If newcastle want to try and bring it out of him then be my guest.

On Mendy, he is just not good enough, and never will be good enough, to be a rotation for Ndidi. His defensive side of the game is mediocre. He is clearly no kante. He rarely makes tackles, he isnt quick, he isnt strong, he isnt skillfull, he isnt clever. At best he is a body in the centre of the park. Going forward is even worse. I have never seen him pass forward. Its always sideways and backwards. Thats fine for the most part, we dont need our cdm to be spraying passes forward. This guy however could be given the ball on a great counter attack and still manage to pass it backwards killing the attack off.

Whether Hamza can still build himself up to be a good rotation player, it is clear for me that Mendy isn't and never has been good enough for the prem. I can't see any skills he brings to the team and would rather be rid of him now

The problem when comparing Choudhury with Ndidi is that Ndidi is getting better year on year, whereas Choudhury cannot improve without game time. Ndidi's distribution is far better than it was a couple of seasons ago, he is genuinely world class, which makes it difficult to accept Choudhury as cover.

Nobody wants hamza because he’s not good enough for the premier league unfortunately we will be stuck with him.

We have the Afcon problem , losing Ndidi, Amartey and Mendy alongside our massive injury problems. Perhaps Rodgers plans not to use a DM , who knows. I think Hamza is better than some think on here and with the new guidelines for refereeing he may not be playing on one leg so much. Basically though its all about his wages.
